Can I take vitamin C after drinking alcohol?

People will feel that their bodies become very uncomfortable after drinking, especially after getting drunk, they will experience symptoms of nausea, vomiting and severe headaches, and even feel emotionally unstable. At this time, you can take some vitamin C, which has a certain effect of sobering up, but it is more important to drink water, so that you can dilute the alcohol concentration in your body.

As alcohol consumption increases, the damage to the liver caused by alcohol is also increasing. Except for a part of alcohol being absorbed by the stomach, the main part is absorbed by the small intestine. The alcohol is then transported to the liver through the arteries, where it is broken down into acetaldehyde by ADH (alcohol dehydratase) and MEOS (liver microsomal ethanol oxidation system). Acetaldehyde is the cause of flushing, palpitations, headaches and vomiting when drinking. More than 90% of these acetaldehyde are oxidized while being produced by ALDH (acetaldehyde deoxidase) and become acetic acid which is excreted from the liver. Therefore, it can be seen that the metabolism of alcohol is mainly completed by the liver.

The ALDH activity levels of mice fed fermented turmeric were higher not only than those fed a standard diet, but also than those fed a turmeric diet. Considering the above results from the perspective of alcohol metabolism, fermented turmeric enables the liver to decompose formaldehyde more quickly, thereby reducing the burden on the liver and greatly benefiting liver function. Turmeric extracts include curcumin, turmeric oil, turmeric oleoresin, turmeric ketones, turmeric alcohol, etc., which have a wide range of uses:

Choleretic effect: Turmeric decoction and infusion can increase the bile secretion of dogs and restore bile to normal.

Anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects: Curcumin and its volatile oil have a good inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus.

Anti-hypertension: Turmeric alcohol extract has a hypotensive effect on anesthetized dogs, and this effect is not affected by the injection of atropine or the removal of the vagus nerve.

Liver detoxification and choleretic effect: Turmeric's ether extract and ethanol extract can promote bile secretion, promote liver detoxification function, etc.

1. Foods rich in starch

Starch macromolecules can combine with alcohol and delay the absorption of alcohol. Foods rich in amylose are more ideal, such as potato products.

2. Fruits and vegetables rich in pectin

For example, apples, hawthorn, cauliflower, pumpkin and so on. You need to eat more of this kind of food. The pectin in it can also delay the absorption of food ingredients. Moreover, these foods contain a lot of water, which can help dilute alcohol. Since they are low in calories, you don't have to worry about obesity if you eat more.

3. Protein drinks such as milk and soy milk

Yogurt, in particular, is thick and often contains plant gum thickeners, which allow it to stay in the stomach for a longer time, helping to dilute alcohol and delay its absorption. Milk drinks contain thickeners, which also have a certain effect in protecting the gastric mucosa.

4. Foods rich in B vitamins

Foods rich in B vitamins include whole grains, milk, egg yolks, mushrooms, etc. If necessary, you can take vitamin B complex tablets orally, which is beneficial to the body and has no harm. Their help is needed to metabolize alcohol in the liver. It is convenient to take two vitamin B complex tablets in advance.

5. Other rescue foods

Vegetables:

Take 1 kg of white radish, mash it into a paste to extract the juice, and take it in one dose. When taking it, you can add an appropriate amount of brown sugar to the white radish juice and drink it; you can also eat raw radish, both of which can help sober you up.

Fruits:

Take 3-5 fresh oranges, wash them thoroughly without peeling them, squeeze the juice and drink it, or eat it. If you can't find oranges, you can use fresh tangerines instead.
