How to treat brain cancer

Treatments for brain cancer include:

(1) Surgery: Surgery is the basic treatment for brain cancer. Proton knives are currently used for surgery. Fatu has successfully performed brain cancer surgery using fiber laser. The robot used by the University of Calgary in Canada to remove brain cancer has also been successful. All of these indicate that there has been new development in the surgical treatment of brain cancer.

(2) Chemotherapy: Du Xiaoli and others from Peking Union Medical College Hospital pointed out that clinical use abroad has confirmed that oral administration of 150-200 ml of temozolomide (TMZ, trade name Taidao) per day for 5 consecutive days, with 28 days as a cycle, has a definite efficacy and relatively high safety in the treatment of brain cancer. Clinical trials have confirmed that nicardipine plus toxantrone or nimustine can significantly improve the chemotherapy effect of brain cancer. Treatment of cells that make up tumor blood vessels may be called a new targeted treatment strategy.

(3) Comprehensive treatment: For the treatment of glioblastoma (GBM), it is recommended to use maximal safe tumor resection, postoperative Taidao synchronous chemoradiotherapy (external beam radiation 60 Gy) and then sequential Taidao single-agent adjuvant chemotherapy; for the treatment of anaplastic astrocytoma (AA), it is recommended to use maximal safe tumor resection, postoperative radiotherapy (external beam radiation 60 Gy) and widely use Taidao chemotherapy after recurrence; for the treatment of low-risk adult low-grade glioma (LGG), maximal safe tumor resection and early radiotherapy can prolong progression-free survival.
