Clinical symptoms of gastric cancer include: (1) Upper abdominal distension: This may be accompanied by fever, acid reflux, nausea, vomiting, etc., which is particularly obvious when eating. Usually, patients feel full after eating a small amount of food and no longer want to continue eating. This is more common in elderly patients with gastric cancer, and the location is often under the xiphoid process or to the right of it. It is sometimes misdiagnosed as a gallbladder disease. (2) Upper abdominal pain: It is usually manifested as dull pain in the upper abdomen. The pain is mild and tolerable. It is not related to eating and usually occurs during rest. Since the elderly have a dull sense of pain, it often manifests as abdominal distension. As the disease progresses, obstruction and upper gastrointestinal bleeding may occur. Obstruction is more common in expansive and invasive gastric cancer. If the lesion is located in the cardia, dysphagia may occur. If the lesion is located in the pylorus, upper abdominal fullness after eating and vomiting of food may occur. Most advanced gastric cancers are accompanied by systemic symptoms such as weight loss, fatigue, loss of appetite, and weight loss. |
