What are the factors that affect the follow-up effect of kidney cancer treatment?

The main factors affecting the prognosis of renal cancer include: pathological stage, histological type, histological grade, sarcomatoid structure, whether there is necrotic tissue in the tumor, physical status score, clinical manifestations and abnormalities and changes in biochemical indicators; among them, pathological stage is the most important prognostic factor for patients with renal cancer.

1. Localized renal cancer

In the 2002 edition of AJCC's TNM staging system, T1-T2N0M0 renal cancer is clinically staged as stage I or II and is customarily referred to as "early renal cancer."

(ii) Locally advanced renal cell carcinoma (IOC).

Renal cancer with regional lymph node metastasis or (and) renal vein tumor thrombus or (and) inferior vena cava tumor thrombus or (and) adrenal gland metastasis or tumor invasion of perirenal adipose tissue or (and) renal sinus adipose tissue (but not exceeding the perirenal fascia) and no distant metastasis is classified as stage III in the 2002 AJCC clinical staging, which was previously called "locally advanced renal cancer".

3. Metastatic renal cancer

The 2002 edition of the AJCC clinical staging of stage IV renal cancer includes T4N0M0 renal cancer. Patients with metastatic renal cancer have a poor prognosis, with a median survival time of 6 to 10 months and a 2-year survival rate of 10% to 20%. Distant metastasis of renal cancer can occur anywhere in the body, but the most common sites are the lungs and bones.
