Methods to relieve cancer pain in late stage gallbladder cancer

In the late stage of gallbladder cancer, as the disease worsens and the tumor invades and spreads wantonly, patients may experience unbearable and severe cancer pain, which affects the patient's quality of life. At this time, patients should be helped to choose appropriate pain relief measures.

1. Patient-controlled analgesia

Patient-controlled analgesia is to fully mobilize the initiative of patients to relieve pain, which is its biggest feature. This technology is a new analgesic technology developed in the past 20 years. It changes the traditional one-time oral, intramuscular or intravenous medication method to patients self-administering small doses and divided medications through a self-controlled pump, which objectively meets the needs of different patients for painkillers and can also achieve the desired therapeutic effect. Patients can actively face pain, avoid a series of vicious cycles caused by fear of pain, and promote the body's recovery function.

2. Invasive treatment

Invasive therapy is a "destructive" therapy. Some patients with advanced gallbladder cancer still cannot effectively relieve the pain throughout the body after standardized drug treatment; some cannot tolerate the side effects of drugs or have poor therapeutic effects due to recurrence of pain. In this case, invasive treatment can be used. It can maintain a better quality of life for patients suffering from cancer pain, allowing patients to be comfortable and painless in the last stage of their lives and spend the last journey safely.

3. Nerve section

If the pain cannot be relieved after various analgesic methods, surgery can be performed to cut off the innervation of the nerves to achieve the purpose of pain relief. For some pain with clear causes or accurate location, relevant nerve cutting can be tried.

4. “Three-step” drug analgesia method

The "three-step" analgesia method is to give appropriate analgesics according to the different degrees of pain in patients, and non-opioids are given for mild pain;

Moderate pain is treated with weak opioids plus or minus nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and auxiliary analgesics; severe pain is treated with opioids plus or minus nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, etc. The principles of this analgesic method are oral administration, timely administration, and individualized drug dosage, which can provide patients with satisfactory pain relief.
