What are the causes of cervical cancer

Cervical cancer is a common gynecological malignancy. The early symptoms are not obvious, but vaginal bleeding may occur in the later stage, which seriously threatens the patient's life and even life safety. The main causes of cervical cancer are as follows.

1. Human Papillomavirus (HPV)

Epidemiological surveys show that among the more than 80 types of HPV found so far, about 30 types are related to sexual reproductive tract lesions. People infected with human papillomavirus have a high chance of developing cervical cancer. Even more than 99% of patients with invasive cervical cancer have been confirmed to have been infected with HPV.

2. Herpes simplex virus type Ⅱ (HSV-Ⅱ)

HSV-Ⅱ was the first virus that was considered to play an important role in the etiology of cervical cancer. Some domestic institutions used a variety of methods to conduct serological epidemiological surveys on HSV-Ⅱ and cervical cancer, and found that the positive rate of HSV-Ⅱ antibodies in cervical cancer patients was as high as over 80%.

3. Sexual contact with high-risk men

Women who have sexual contact with high-risk men are prone to reproductive tract cancers such as cervical cancer. High-risk men refer to those who have penile cancer, prostate cancer, or whose ex-wives or sexual partners have had cervical cancer.

4. Vitamin Malnutrition

Related studies have found that low intake of B-carotene can increase the risk of cervical cancer. In addition, vitamin C is also related to the incidence of cervical cancer. Women who take a lot of vitamin C have a lower chance of cervical cancer. When women lack sufficient folic acid in their bodies, they are also prone to cervical cancer.

5. Menstrual and childbirth factors

Women with poor menstrual hygiene and prolonged menstrual periods have a significantly increased risk of cervical cancer; those with poor hygiene during the postpartum period are also at high risk of gynecological tumors such as cervical cancer.
