What are the symptoms of skin cancer

Symptoms of skin cancer may vary depending on the type, but common symptoms include new skin tumors, patches of pigment changes, non-healing ulcers, persistent itching or pain, etc. Patients should be vigilant and seek medical attention in a timely manner for diagnosis and evaluation.

1. New tumors or nodules

Skin cancer often appears as a new tumor or nodule on the skin surface, which may be transparent, smooth or with a rough surface. Basal cell carcinoma in particular may appear as a waxy, transparent nodule that expands over time. If similar symptoms are found and persist, you should go to the hospital for a dermatological diagnosis in time.

2. Pigmented patches

Malignant melanoma often presents as a new or obvious change in an existing mole, such as irregular edges, uneven color, diameter increase of more than 6 mm, asymmetric shape, etc. Additional red, black or blue parts may appear within the plaque, and these characteristics indicate that the lesion may be malignant. For any abnormal pigment growth, consult a professional as soon as possible.

3. Ulcers or wounds that do not heal for a long time

Squamous cell carcinoma may present as non-healing lesions on the skin surface, such as ulcers that continue to ooze, crusting, or scaly, peeling changes. Sometimes these lesions may be accompanied by slight bleeding or a foul odor, all of which require a skin pathology analysis as soon as possible to rule out the possibility of skin cancer.

4. Persistent pain, itching or burning sensation

Some skin cancer areas may be accompanied by local itching, burning, or persistent pain, especially after a bump or lesion appears. If this symptom occurs regularly and there is no other clear cause, multiple causes, including skin cancer, should be considered.

Early detection and treatment of skin cancer is crucial. If you find abnormal patches, tumors or ulcers on your skin, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible so that the doctor can confirm the diagnosis and develop a treatment plan through biopsy, dermoscopy and other means.
