Middle-aged women taking birth control pills are more likely to develop cervical cancer

Cervical cancer is one of the most common tumors in women caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). It is most common in women aged 40 to 50. About 80% of women who have sex are likely to be infected with HPV. Every year, 493,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer worldwide, of which 273,000 die, mostly in developing countries. However, the number of middle-aged women who develop cervical cancer due to estrogen disorders is increasing year by year.

With the development of society, many women are becoming more and more interested in beauty. Because middle-aged women are about to enter menopause, the estrogen in their bodies often fluctuates, so many middle-aged women choose to take birth control pills, the main ingredients of which are estrogen and progesterone. If taken frequently, the estrogen content will be artificially increased, which can easily cause hormone disorders. Over time, the higher the estrogen level, the more menstruation will be affected, and even irregular vaginal bleeding, breast pain, and uterine fibroids may occur.

Especially emergency contraceptive pills, each pill contains 0.75 mg of progesterone, while short-acting contraceptive pills contain 0.125 mg of progesterone, which is 6 times the amount of short-acting contraceptive pills. If taken multiple times in a short period of time, it will obviously increase the disorder of estrogen levels and the chance of inducing cervical cancer. Therefore, women over 40 years old are best not to touch it.

One of the main factors of cervical cancer is long-term use of birth control pills. If birth control pills are taken for more than 8 years, the incidence of cervical cancer will increase by about 2 times.
