What are the risk factors for prostate cancer?

Prostate cancer is a malignant tumor that occurs in the prostate gland, which seriously threatens the health of patients, especially middle-aged and elderly men over 50 years old. So, what are the absolute risk factors for prostate cancer?

1. Age factor. The incidence of prostate cancer increases with age, and the vast majority of prostate cancer patients are over 65 years old. Basically, the incidence of prostate cancer almost doubles with every 10 years of age after the age of 40. The risk of prostate cancer in men aged 50-59 is 10%, while the risk of prostate cancer in men aged 80-89 increases sharply to 70%.

2. Racial factors. The incidence of prostate cancer is highest among black Americans, followed by Hispanics and white Americans. The incidence of prostate cancer in Asians is increasing year by year, such as in China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, etc.

3. Family genetic factors. When a direct relative in the family suffers from prostate cancer, the incidence of prostate cancer in the family members increases. If one direct relative suffers from prostate cancer, the probability of prostate cancer will be 1 times higher than the general population; if there are two, it will be 3 times higher. This shows that the occurrence of prostate cancer may be related to one or a group of genes in the body.

4. Cell mutation factors. The incidence of prostate cancer in men with prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia is significantly increased. High-grade intraepithelial neoplasia is a precancerous lesion that shows abnormal cell growth morphology under a microscope, indicating the presence of prostate cancer.
