Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment for Ovarian Cancer Patients

After ovarian cancer patients receive surgical treatment, they can take Chinese medicine to regulate their health as soon as possible. Depending on the symptoms, the medication is also different:

1. Deficiency of both Qi and Yin: Long-term accumulation of mass in the abdomen, mental fatigue, emaciation, shortness of breath, dry mouth, poor appetite, large abdomen, varicose veins in the abdominal wall or vaginal bleeding, occasional low fever, red or light red tongue, and stringy and thin pulse. Treatment can be achieved by nourishing the liver and kidneys, softening and eliminating symptoms, and Liuwei Dihuang Decoction with modifications is recommended.

Medication: 20g each of Rehmannia glutinosa, Chinese yam, Adenophora ginseng, Ligustrum lucidum, Herba Ecliptae, Herba Hedyotis diffusae, 15g each of Fructus corni, Cortex Moutan, Solanum nigrum, Rhizoma alismatis, 30g of Carapace of Turtle. For those with heavy vaginal bleeding, add 30g of donkey-hide gelatin and 10g of Panax notoginseng; for those with poor appetite, add 15g of stir-fried Gingzi and 10g each of Jiao Sanxian.

2. Qi stagnation and blood stasis: lower abdominal mass, hard and resistant to pressure, painful when pressed. Irregular vaginal bleeding or amenorrhea, emaciation and ascites, rough skin, dry mouth and no desire to drink, constipation, ecchymosis and petechiae on the tongue, thready and wiry pulse, etc. Treatment should be based on the method of regulating qi and activating blood circulation, removing blood stasis and eliminating symptoms. Gexia Zhuyu Decoction can be used.

Medication: 15g each of peach kernel, moutan bark, red peony root, safflower, aconite root, lindera strychnifolia, fructus aurantii, cyperus rotundus, zedoaria, and yam tsutsuga, 20g each of angelica, corydalis, and turtle shell, and 10g of chuanxiong. For those with heavy vaginal bleeding, add 30g of pollen (wrapped in cloth) and 30g of sanguisorba officinalis charcoal.

3. Dampness and toxin accumulation: Abdominal mass rapidly enlarges, abdominal distension and pain accompanied by ascites, irregular vaginal bleeding, bitter taste in the mouth, dry stool, dark tongue coating, thick and greasy, stringy and slippery pulse, etc. Treatment is to clear away heat and dampness, remove blood stasis and detoxify, and Wuling Powder with added flavor can be selected.

Medication: 15g each of Atractylodes macrocephala, Rhizoma Alismatis, Cortex Phellodendri, Herba Plantaginis, Solanum nigrum, and Cinnamomum cassiae, 20g each of Polyporus, Poria, Scutellaria barbata, Hedyotis diffusa, and Carapax trichosanthis. For those with heavy vaginal bleeding, add 30g of stir-fried Pollen Typhae (wrapped in cloth) and 10g of Panax notoginseng powder (washed); add 10g of Rhubarb for constipation.
