Dietary considerations for ovarian cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy

Ovarian cancer is a gynecological malignancy that poses a great threat to women's health. In order to completely eliminate the tumor, most patients need chemotherapy. Since chemotherapy can also cause damage to the patient's normal body functions, attention should be paid to dietary adjustment during chemotherapy.

Before chemotherapy:

A balanced diet should be taken before chemotherapy to lay a good physical foundation for chemotherapy. The daily diet should include five major types of food: cereals and potatoes (rice, pasta), vegetables and fruits, meat, poultry, eggs, milk and soy products, and a small amount of oil. 4 to 5 meals a day can be taken, and the snacks should mainly be fruits. Eat a low-fat, high-carbohydrate, high-vitamin and mineral diet one day before chemotherapy. Choose foods such as rice, pasta, fish, eggs, tofu, vegetables, fruits, etc.

During chemotherapy:

During chemotherapy, the diet should be low in fat, high in carbohydrates, and a small amount of high-quality protein. The daily diet should be mainly cereals, vegetables, and fruits, with easily digestible chicken, fish, and eggs, etc. Protein powder can be appropriately supplemented. If the chemotherapy reaction is severe, the diet should be mainly liquid, with vegetable soup, rice soup, and fruit juice. Chinese medicine can also be used to relieve adverse reactions such as digestive tract.

After chemotherapy:

Patients are weak after chemotherapy, so they should choose nutritious and easily digestible foods, such as soft rice, porridge, bread, steamed buns, fish, eggs, chicken, soup, potatoes, bananas, etc. They can eat small meals, exercise properly, and use yogurt instead of milk to avoid abdominal bloating.
