A good tea recipe for dry mouth and less fluid in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients after radiotherapy

Radiotherapy is the main treatment for nasopharyngeal carcinoma, but its toxic side effects should not be underestimated, especially for patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The radiotherapy site is located in the nasopharynx, which can seriously affect the health of the mouth, nose, pharynx, etc., causing insufficient salivary gland secretion, dry mouth and other symptoms.

However, patients can use tea recipes that can clear the heat and toxins from radiotherapy and promote the production of body fluids and relieve dryness to help relieve symptoms. The details are as follows:

1. Honeysuckle and Chrysanthemum Tea

Ingredients: 30 grams of honeysuckle, 10 grams of white chrysanthemum, and 50 grams of mung bean.

Preparation method: Pick out the honeysuckle and white chrysanthemum, wash them, put them into a casserole, add water to soak for a while, boil for 15 minutes, filter out the residue, take the juice and set aside. Wash the mung beans, put them into a casserole, add appropriate amount of water, boil it, then simmer it over low heat for 1 hour. When the mung beans are cooked and the soup is like mung bean paste, add the decoction of honeysuckle and white chrysanthemum, mix well, and boil it again.

Efficacy: clearing away heat and detoxifying, promoting body fluid and moistening dryness. Suitable for nasopharyngeal carcinoma with internal heat and toxicity after radiotherapy, with intracavitary mucosal congestion and edema, increased exudation, and difficulty in excretion.

Usage: Take as tea or beverage, divided into 2 doses in the morning and evening, or divided into multiple doses.

2. Water chestnut soy milk

Ingredients: 100 grams of water chestnuts, 250 grams of soy milk, and 25 grams of white sugar.

Preparation method: Wash the water chestnuts with clean water, blanch them in boiling water for about 1 minute, mash them in a mortar, and then squeeze the juice with a clean gauze for later use. Put the raw soy milk in a pot and boil it on the fire, add the water chestnut juice, and after it boils again, pour it into a bowl, add sugar and stir well.

Efficacy: nourishes the lungs and stomach, clears away heat and produces body fluid, relieves cough and resolves phlegm. Suitable for patients with dry mouth and lack of body fluid after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Usage: Take 2 to 3 times a day.
