Lung cancer patients with fever should take good care of their oral area

Lung cancer is a common malignant tumor of the respiratory system. Before treatment, patients often experience fever due to the cancer. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy on the top of the head reduce saliva secretion, and patients may also experience varying degrees of fever. When cooling down the patient, special attention should be paid to the care of the patient's oral area.

Oral care is important for patients with high fever

The patient's fever is due to the necrosis of cancer cells, which can secrete a large amount of toxins, causing symptoms of the body's own immune system's self-protection. Some patients may have a fever of over 40°C. Measures should be taken in time to reduce the patient's fever, because bacteria are easily bred in the mouth during high fever. If you do not pay attention to oral hygiene and take relevant care measures, stomatitis or even oral ulcers are likely to occur, which is not conducive to the treatment and recovery of lung cancer patients.

Oral care methods

1. Mouthwash can be prepared under the guidance of a doctor, and patients can rinse their mouths frequently before and after meals. This is beneficial to maintaining oral hygiene and inhibiting the formation of bacteria in the mouth.

2. Patients with central lung cancer mainly suffer from infectious fever. While receiving chemotherapy, you can strengthen nebulization inhalation to moisten the oral mucosa, encourage patients to cough and expectorate effectively, keep the respiratory tract open, follow the doctor's advice to use antibiotics reasonably, and avoid high fever causing serious consequences for patients.

3. For those with persistent fever, you may wish to use traditional Chinese medicine for treatment. It is a good idea to use a reasonable combination of Chinese medicines that have the effects of clearing away heat and resolving phlegm, promoting fluid production and moistening dryness. It can not only reduce fever, but also fight cancer and remove toxins.

4. Encourage patients to drink water frequently to keep their mouths moist and reduce oral dryness, or use ice cubes that patients can hold in their mouths to relieve the discomfort of dry mouth.

5. You can try to let the patient drink some lemon juice or chew gum to help secrete more saliva. Note that patients with oral ulcers should not take lemon juice to avoid worsening of the condition.
