What should kidney cancer patients pay attention to in their diet after surgery

After surgery, kidney cancer patients should take good care of their diet, which is important for their recovery.

The first is the early postoperative period, that is, 24 hours before the operation. At this time, special ways are generally used to provide nutrition to the patient, such as intravenous infusion of nutrient solution. When the intestinal function is restored and the gas in the patient's gastrointestinal tract is emptied, the patient can be given liquid food first to allow the stomach to restore peristalsis and digestive function, and then gradually transition to semi-liquid food. After a period of time, about 7 days, gradually transition to softer food to supplement the body's needed protein and vitamins.

The patient's food should be high in protein, calories and vitamins, such as beef, mutton, pork, chicken, fish, shrimp and soy products. At the same time, they should eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, and it is best to eat mainly plant-based foods. Animal-based foods include poultry and fish.

In addition, the diet should not be too salty. The daily salt intake should not exceed 6g, and the sugar intake should be limited. A diet that is too salty or too sweet will put a burden on the kidney function. At the same time, avoid the intake of moldy food, the cooking temperature should not be too high, and do not eat burnt food or pickled food.

Generally, kidney cancer patients will have renal insufficiency after surgery. At this time, they should eat a low-protein diet and consume more starch to ensure sufficient calories. Those with microscopic diabetes who are prone to getting angry should drink more water and eat more foods that reduce fire, such as apples and fungus.
