How to observe and care for wounds after gastric cancer surgery

After radical resection, patients with gastric cancer need to disinfect and change the dressings of the incision regularly and keep the area clean and dry. If infection symptoms such as redness, swelling, heat and pain occur, medical treatment should be sought promptly.

1. Routine care: For patients who do not feel obvious discomfort or pain, they should eat light and easily digestible food, and avoid eating spicy and irritating food as well as overly hard and rough food, so as not to affect wound recovery;

2. Change the dressing regularly: Under normal circumstances, the gauze and tape can be removed every 3-5 days, and then wiped with iodine solution and applied with mupirocin ointment to prevent infection. At the same time, the patient's temperature changes and the condition of the drainage tube should be closely observed. If there is an increase in exudate, the doctor should be informed in time for treatment;

3. Take medication as directed by your doctor: If you have a fever, you can take antipyretic drugs orally, such as ibuprofen sustained-release capsules or aspirin enteric-coated tablets. If you have obvious abdominal distension or nausea and vomiting, you can take domperidone tablets under the guidance of a doctor to relieve the symptoms.

4. Other precautions: Ensure adequate sleep in daily life, try not to stay up late, arrange work and rest time reasonably, and combine work and rest to help the body recover as soon as possible. In addition, you should also exercise appropriately to strengthen your physical fitness, but do not do strenuous exercise to prevent excessive fatigue from causing cold in the abdomen, which will aggravate the condition.
