Is viral herpes contagious? What are the routes of transmission

There are many types of herpes, and viral herpes is one of them. This is a viral skin disease, the main types of which are herpes zoster and herpes simplex. Whether viral herpes is contagious is also a question that many people worry about. The viruses in viral herpes are contagious.

1. Viral herpes is caused by viral herpes infection of DNA virus. Includes herpes simplex virus type 1 and herpes simplex virus type 2. Type 1 virus infection mainly causes infection of the skin, mucous membranes and organs other than the genitals and causes symptoms. Type II virus mainly causes skin and mucous membrane infections in the genital area.

2. These viruses that cause viral herpes are highly contagious, and humans are the only host of viral herpes pathogenic viruses, which means that humans are the source of infection of herpes viruses. The virus mainly enters the body through the respiratory tract, oral cavity, genital mucosa, skin gaps, etc., lurking and multiplying in the mucosa, blood, saliva and ganglion cells of the human body for a period of time. When the number of viruses is sufficient, it will cause symptoms.

3. Most patients with primary viral herpes infection are latent. Most patients have no clinical symptoms or show subclinical symptoms, and only a few patients show clinical symptoms. For example, patients with herpes zoster virus mainly have previous primary infection, and the virus then hides in the body's nerve tissue for a long time, making the patient a carrier of the virus. When the body's immunity is weakened, such as when you have a fever, catch a cold, have other diseases, have gastrointestinal disorders, menstruate, or are pregnant, the HSV hidden in the body will be activated and cause symptoms.

4. Patients with viral herpes need to ask a doctor for diagnosis and identification in time, and then receive symptomatic treatment. Regardless of the type of viral infection, patients need systemic treatment, including antiviral and immunotherapy, and local astringency, infection prevention, and drying care measures.
