Interventional treatment of liver cancer

Interventional treatment of liver cancer

Since the early symptoms of liver cancer are not obvious, it is usually in the middle or late stages when discovered. A large portion of the cases cannot be surgically removed, and the effects of radiotherapy and chemotherapy are often unsatisfactory. Therefore, many patients cannot get better treatment. However, with the continuous improvement of treatment technology, interventional treatment of liver cancer has been widely used in the treatment of middle and late stages of liver cancer.

The so-called interventional treatment of liver cancer refers to a regional local chemotherapy that injects anticancer drugs or embolic agents into the hepatic artery through femoral artery catheterization. It is currently the first choice for non-laparotomy treatment of liver cancer. Its efficacy has been confirmed and it is the best means of treating middle and late stage liver cancer.

The main principle is to use local targeted drug infusion, tumor vascular embolization and argon-helium cryoablation to concentrate on killing tumor cells, minimize tumor burden, reverse the liver cancer stage in some patients, and convert unresectable liver cancer cases into resectable liver cancer cases.

And its advantages are obvious. First, the treatment is simple, easy, safe and reliable. Unlike major operations that require general anesthesia and large surgical incisions, this method can be tolerated by older and weaker patients. Secondly, it has a definite effect. After treatment, alpha-fetoprotein can drop rapidly, tumors can shrink, and pain can be relieved in a short period of time. For some liver cancers, the volume can be reduced and then a two-part resection can be performed.

Interventional treatment of liver cancer has become an important means of comprehensive treatment of advanced liver cancer due to its significant effects.
