People who are prone to nasopharyngeal cancer

Nasopharyngeal cancer is very harmful to the human body. If we can understand the population that is prone to the disease, we can do a better job in preventing the occurrence of nasopharyngeal cancer. When such people have abnormalities in the nasopharynx and related parts, timely examination and early diagnosis and treatment can detect nasopharyngeal cancer early and prevent the disease from getting worse. According to statistics, there are three main groups with a high risk of nasopharyngeal cancer.

1. Family history of nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Many clinical experimental data have shown that among patients with nasopharyngeal cancer, the prevalence of nasopharyngeal cancer with a family history is much higher than that of ordinary people.

2. Some Asian people

The incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma has a certain regional characteristic. Among residents in Asia, the incidence rate is higher in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Taiwan, Hong Kong and some Southeast Asian countries.

3. People infected with Epstein-Barr virus (Epstein-Barr virus)

Epstein-Barr virus infection can cause nasopharyngeal carcinoma. In areas with a high incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, the infection rate of Epstein-Barr virus in young children is very high. The incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma in patients with positive Epstein-Barr virus antibodies is 80 times higher than that of the same age group. Currently, the detection of Epstein-Barr virus antibodies has been used as one of the steps in diagnosing nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

There are many factors that cause nasopharyngeal cancer. The specific mechanism is still unclear. The probability of nasopharyngeal cancer is higher in some areas, and frequent exposure to Epstein-Barr virus will also increase the risk of nasopharyngeal cancer.
