How to make dried fruits in the oven

However, the shelf life of fresh fruit is relatively short, so many people will preserve the fruit by drying it, and to make dried fruit, you generally need to use an oven. So, how to use the oven to make dried fruits?

An electric oven is an electric heating appliance that uses the radiant heat emitted by electric heating elements to bake food. We can use it to make roast chicken, roast duck, bake bread, cakes, etc. According to the different needs of baked foods, the temperature of the electric oven can generally be adjusted within the range of 50-250℃, so the oven can also be used to dry fruits.

Dried Fruit Preparation

1. Add sugar to water and bring to a boil. If the apples are moist, use kitchen paper to wash off the moisture on the surface.

2. Place the sliced ​​pineapple, orange, and apple on a plate and pour in the cooked sugar water without overlapping.

3. Cover with plastic wrap, making sure the plastic wrap sticks close to the fruit slices. This will help them to be soaked in sugar water and let them sit for more than 1 hour, preferably a day.

4. Drain the sugar water from the soaked fruit slices and spread them flat on a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper.

5. For kiwi fruit, which has fine fiber, you don’t need to soak it. Just sift powdered sugar evenly on the silicone mat, then put the kiwi slices on it and sift powdered sugar again.

6. Bake in the oven at 80-100 degrees for about 5 hours, turning the fruit over halfway through the baking process until the moisture is dried up.

Notes on using the oven

1. Pay attention to cleaning when using the electric oven for the first time

First, wipe the inside and outside of the oven with a clean damp cloth to remove some dust. Then you can leave the oven empty and use high temperature for a while. Sometimes white smoke may come out, which is normal. After baking, pay attention to ventilation and heat dissipation.

2. After cleaning, you can use the electric oven normally

Before baking any food, it must be preheated to the specified temperature to meet the baking time in the recipe. It takes about 10 minutes to preheat the oven. If the oven is preheated and left unheated for too long, it may affect the service life of the oven.

3. Be careful of the oven that is heating to avoid burns

In addition to the high temperature inside, the outer shell and glass door are also hot, so be careful when opening or closing the oven door to avoid being burned by the glass door. When placing the baking tray in the oven or taking it out of the oven, always use the handles and never touch the baking tray or the food being baked directly with your hands. Do not touch the heater or other parts of the oven cavity with your hands to avoid burns.

4. When using the oven, the temperature should be adjusted first.

When using the oven, you should first adjust the temperature of the upper and lower fire, adjust the upper and lower fire, and then turn the time knob clockwise (never turn it counterclockwise). At this time, the power indicator light will light up, proving that the oven is in working condition. During use, if we set the baking time for 30 minutes, but through observation, the food is baked in 20 minutes, then we should not turn the time knob counterclockwise at this time. Please adjust the fire position in the middle of the three knobs to off. This can extend the service life of the machine. This is different from the use of microwave ovens, which can be reversed.
