Can bananas be left in the sun to ripen?

Bananas are a very common fruit in our daily life and are very helpful to our health. Many people who have bought bananas know that bananas are a kind of fruit that is not easy to preserve. This leads to the fact that many times the bananas we buy are not very ripe. Mainly for the purpose of preservation, some people buy less ripe bananas and put them in the sun to ripen them. So what is the ripening effect of bananas in the sun?

1. Apple Ripening Method

Use a cardboard box or plastic bag, add 2-3 ripe apples (or 1 ripe papaya) to bananas, seal it with a plastic bag, and ripen it in 2/3 days at room temperature (do not place it in an air-conditioned room). The banana skin will turn slightly yellow and the flesh will be sweet and delicious.

After waiting for a while, the second night passed. The bananas didn't turn yellow much, but they were soft and very sweet.

2. Rice Ripening Method

Pack the bananas in a plastic bag (no need to seal) and place them in a rice storage container. They will ripen in 2 to 3 days and have a slight rice aroma.

Or put green bananas and rice into a plastic bag, wrap the banana heads with paper towels and seal it.

Banana peel ripening method

Use a fruit foam box, put some yellow ripe bananas or yellow banana peels after eating the plantains, seal them together, place them at normal temperature, and they will ripen in 2/3 days.

If you put green fruits (bananas, papayas, tomatoes, soursop, egg apples, mangoes, persimmons, etc.) in the sun for a few hours and then follow the above method, they will ripen faster.

3. How to ripen raw bananas

How to ripen raw bananas Methods and techniques for ripening bananas

1. Raw bananas can be ripened with incense. This method was often used in the past and the method is very simple. Just put a lot of raw bananas in a small room and light incense inside. When the smoke inside reaches a certain concentration, you can close the doors and windows. Take out the bananas after two days, and the bananas will be ripe in about five days.

2. It is also a common method to ripen raw bananas with ethephon. This ethephon is a low-toxic drug. After placing the bananas, you can spray it on the surface. After spraying, cover the bananas with plastic cloth. Remove the plastic cloth after one day, and then wait for about two days and the bananas will be ripened successfully.

3. The above two methods are methods for ripening large quantities of raw bananas and are not suitable for use at home. When you buy bananas at home and want to ripen them, the best way is to put the bananas in a plastic bag after purchase, then put in two apples or pears, then tie the mouth tightly and place it near the heater. After two or three days, the bananas will ripen naturally and can be taken out and eaten.

Three ways to ripen raw bananas

1. Separate the large bunch of bananas you bought and put every 6-7 bananas in a clean food bag. Put a ripe banana or a ripe apple in the banana bag, seal it tightly and place it in a place with a temperature above 20℃. The bananas can be ripened in about 3 to 4 days.

2. Soak a cotton ball in strong liquor and put it into a banana food bag. Follow the same method as above.

3. Place the food bag containing bananas in a place with a temperature of about 25°C, seal it tightly, and it will ripen in about 3 to 4 days.

Notes on ripening bananas

Tiantian Orchard reminds you: Temperature is very important for ripening bananas. If the temperature is low, it will take a long time to ripen bananas and the effect will be poor; if the temperature is too high, for example, over 30℃, the chlorophyll in the banana peel will not disappear, and the lutein and carotene will not appear. In this way, although the banana is soft, the peel is still green. The most suitable ripening temperature is 20℃~25℃.

In addition, the temperature is low in winter, so special attention should be paid to preventing bananas from freezing when ripening. Bananas cannot ripen normally after being frozen for 24 hours at temperatures below 8°C. Therefore, bananas cannot be stored in the refrigerator to keep fresh, as bananas that have been frozen are difficult to ripen again.
