Treatment of prostate cancer

The harm of prostate cancer to human health cannot be underestimated. It has become the second most dangerous tumor after lung cancer. There are many treatments for it. Surgery, chemotherapy, endocrine therapy and diet therapy are the four methods commonly used in clinical practice.

Surgery: Surgery refers to the complete removal of prostate cancer and tumors to achieve the purpose of cure. It is one of the main methods for treating prostate cancer. Surgical routes include retropubic route, perineal route and laparoscopy, etc., which must be selected according to the patient's body shape and disease characteristics.

Chemotherapy: Chemotherapy is mainly used for patients with advanced prostate cancer after surgery or radiotherapy. The purpose is to eliminate potential small lesions that are currently undetectable. Chemotherapy is currently only used as an auxiliary treatment and it is impossible to cure the primary lesion when used alone.

Endocrine therapy: Prostate cancer has typical hormone dependence, so endocrine therapy is often used to treat late stage diseases, mainly to relieve prostate symptoms. Its effect has been confirmed, but there is no proof that it can prolong survival.

Diet therapy: Diet therapy should be carried out throughout the entire prostate cancer process. Prostate cancer patients should eat more soybeans, tomatoes, pomegranates, green tea, red grapes, strawberries, peas, watermelons, etc., and eat less foods that may stimulate the growth of prostate cancer, such as high-fat diets.
