Prostate cancer patients should control their sex life appropriately

Prostate cancer refers to a malignant tumor that occurs in the prostate gland, which is more common in the posterior lobe and lateral lobes of the prostate gland, especially the posterior lobe.

For untreated prostate cancer patients, it is harmful to have an uncontrolled sex life. This is because during sexual intercourse, the patient will experience pain during ejaculation as the urethra and bladder neck contract strongly. If the cancer has invaded the bladder neck or posterior urethra, bleeding will occur after sexual intercourse due to the strong contraction, which will manifest as hematuria or hematospermia. During sexual intercourse, the prostate will also be over-congested, which is not conducive to the control of the disease. Therefore, it is recommended that prostate cancer patients control their sex life and actively receive treatment. They can only have sex after the disease is effectively controlled or after consulting a relevant doctor.

For prostate cancer patients, early diagnosis and treatment are the key to preserving sexual function. Therefore, people at high risk of prostate cancer should raise their awareness of the disease so that it can be detected and treated in time to prevent the disease from worsening and affecting sexual well-being. Because the disease is relatively hidden, most of the diagnosed patients are already in the late stage. In addition, most prostate cancers are hormone-dependent. Therefore, prostatectomy requires bilateral orchiectomy or drug removal of the testicles at the same time, so preserving sexual function is difficult.
