TCM Syndrome Differentiation and Treatment of Bladder Cancer

Bladder cancer belongs to the category of urinary retention, hematuria, and hematuria in traditional Chinese medicine. It is divided into multiple causes such as qi deficiency, blood deficiency, phlegm, wind stasis, and excess heat, and is treated according to the principle of syndrome differentiation and treatment.

1. Damp-heat type

Main symptoms: yellow, red and burning urine, thirst, irritability, soreness in the waist, swelling of the lower limbs, or dribbling, scanty or even blocked urine, distended lower abdomen, red tongue with yellow greasy coating, and weak and rapid pulse;

Treatment method: clear away heat and dampness, assist with hemostasis and laxative. Prescription: use Xiaoji Yinzi if the main symptom is stranguria, and use Bazhengsan if the main symptom is blood stasis.

2. Cold and dampness accumulation type

Main symptoms: urinary retention, dripping or frequent and long urination, light red urine, occasionally with blood clots, cold limbs, fear of cold, distended lower abdomen, puffy body, pale face, pale and fat tongue, white and slightly greasy tongue coating, deep and thready pulse;

Treatment method: promote diuresis and eliminate dampness, warm the yang and transform qi; Prescription: Wuling San, with modifications based on symptoms.

3. Stasis and toxic accumulation type

Main symptoms: severe abdominal pain, urinary obstruction, dark red urine with blood clots, dark purple tongue with petechiae, black fur, and wiry pulse;

Treatment method: promote blood circulation, remove blood stasis, disperse nodules and relieve pain; Prescription: Shixiaosan.

4. Qi and blood deficiency

Main symptoms: painless hematuria, weak bowel movements, dizziness, pale complexion, lack of energy, limb fatigue, poor appetite, pale tongue with white coating, weak and thready pulse;

Treatment method: Invigorate Qi and nourish blood, strengthen the spleen and benefit the kidneys; Prescription: Bazhen Decoction.

5. Liver and kidney yin deficiency

Main symptoms: prolonged hematuria, short and dark urine, soreness of waist and knees, fever in the five parts of the body, night sweats, weight loss, red tongue with thin coating, and weak and rapid pulse;

Treatment method: Nourish the liver and kidneys; Prescription: Liuwei Dihuang Pills.
