The key to treating colon cancer is persistence

Colon cancer is a common digestive tract malignancy that occurs in the colon. With the improvement of people's living standards and changes in dietary structure, its incidence rate has been increasing year by year. It is not terrible to get sick. As long as we face it positively and bravely, we can overcome the disease. However, the treatment of cancer requires a relatively long process, and persistence is the key to the treatment process.

The recurrence rate of colon cancer is as high as 30%-50%. In order to prevent the recurrence and metastasis of colon cancer after surgery, even if patients have undergone reasonable and regular treatment, they should insist on regular follow-up after discharge. Follow-up is a long-term process. Generally speaking, it is required to review every 2-3 months in the first year, and every 3-6 months in the 2nd to 5th year. After 5 years, review can be conducted once a year or so, and for life. Some patients with colon cancer are unable to insist on follow-up throughout their lives. In the first few years after surgery, they strictly follow the doctor's orders and follow up colonoscopy carefully. However, as time goes by, the importance of follow-up is neglected, which increases the risk of recurrence and metastasis of colon cancer.

Chemotherapy should be actively adopted after colon cancer surgery to prevent recurrence and metastasis. With the rapid development of medical technology, the emergence of targeted oral chemotherapy drugs has made innovative breakthroughs in chemotherapy drugs. After entering the human body, targeted oral chemotherapy drugs must be activated by enzymes in tumor cells to produce antiviral effects, and have little damage to normal human cells. Moreover, patients can receive chemotherapy at home, which not only reduces the trouble of going to the hospital but also reduces the pain of chemotherapy.
