Regular breast self-examination to prevent breast cancer

Regular breast self-examination to prevent breast cancer

As more and more women are suffering from breast cancer, it is particularly important to detect abnormalities in the early stages of the disease and receive timely treatment. Female friends can do breast self-examination once a month, which is very helpful in preventing breast cancer. Here are three methods that I hope female friends can use.

1. Check while bathing

Method: Before washing off the shower gel, it is easy to move your hands on wet skin. At this time, move your flat hands gently to check every part of the breast. Use your right hand to check the left breast and your left hand to check the right breast to see if there are any lumps, nodules or thickening in the breast.

2. Check in front of the mirror

Method: Stand in front of a mirror with your hands hanging down by your sides, then slowly raise your upper limbs above your head to observe changes in the shape of your breasts, including the outline of the breasts, any swelling, any skin concavities, or nipple retraction. Then, put your hands on your waist and observe whether your breasts are symmetrical.

3. Check while lying down

Method: When lying flat, place a pillow or something soft under the shoulder blade of the breast to be examined. Then place the hand on the same side behind the head so that the breast tissue is more evenly distributed on the chest. Gently press the flat hand on the skin and gradually move the examination around the nipple. Start the examination from the outer upper part of the breast, clockwise for the right breast and counterclockwise for the left breast; start from the outer periphery of the breast and gradually move inward until the nipple. Finally, gently squeeze the nipple between the thumb and index finger to observe whether there is nipple discharge.
