TCM treatment for advanced liver cancer

TCM treatment for advanced liver cancer

Many patients are not familiar with the symptoms of liver cancer, so they cannot detect and treat the disease early. By the time they find out, the disease has already reached the advanced stage. Some patients want to know how to treat it in the advanced stage. Today we will ask the experts in detail what treatment methods are currently available for advanced liver cancer?

1. Surgical treatment of advanced liver cancer: If the metastatic site is single, the tumor is small, and the patient's physique can withstand surgery, surgical resection can be considered. However, generally speaking, surgical resection is not recommended for advanced liver cancer treatment, because patients with advanced liver cancer are weak, or the disease progresses, spreads, and metastasizes, and most are not suitable for surgical treatment.

2. Chemotherapy for advanced liver cancer: Currently, the clinical evaluation of the effect of chemotherapy for advanced liver cancer is not very high. This is mainly because patients with advanced liver cancer often have varying degrees of liver damage in addition to cirrhosis. The toxic side effects of chemotherapy can further damage liver function and thus aggravate the patient's condition.

3. Treatment of advanced liver cancer with traditional Chinese medicine: At present, traditional Chinese medicine or a combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine is more commonly used in clinical treatment of advanced liver cancer, which can achieve good therapeutic effects. Traditional Chinese medicine can treat the disease based on syndrome differentiation and strengthen the body to eliminate evil, which can make up for the shortcomings of Western medicine and reduce its toxic side effects. It can also improve the patient's own immunity and inhibit cancer cells, making it a good choice. Treatment of advanced liver cancer with traditional Chinese medicine can quickly improve liver pain, fever, ascites and other symptoms of liver cancer patients through syndrome differentiation and rational use of drugs, and effectively control the growth and spread of tumors.

In the late stages of the disease, the symptoms of liver cancer become more obvious, so everyone should pay attention to changes in their bodies.

(1) Bleeding tendency: Gastrointestinal bleeding is common in the late stage of liver cancer and is also a symptom before death from liver cancer. It is mainly caused by portal hypertension leading to esophageal varices. Bleeding tendency such as gingival bleeding and subcutaneous ecchymosis is common in patients with liver cancer combined with cirrhosis. It is mainly caused by damaged liver function and abnormal coagulation function. Therefore, patients with liver cancer should pay attention to severe bleeding.

(2) Hepatic encephalopathy: Hepatic encephalopathy is a manifestation of terminal liver cancer and the main cause of death from liver cancer. Common causes of hepatic encephalopathy include upper gastrointestinal bleeding, infection, hypokalemia, surgery, improper drainage of ascites, and the use of large amounts of diuretics and drugs that are harmful to the liver. Currently, only the causes can be prevented and treated, and there is a lack of effective treatment methods. Hepatic coma is usually a symptom before death from liver cancer.

(3) Pain in the liver area: The liver tissue will be damaged and infiltrated by the tumor for a long time, resulting in compression and damage to the adjacent nerve roots, ischemia and necrosis of local tissues, obstruction of blood return, and infiltration of bones and periosteum, which can all cause severe pain in liver cancer. Therefore, the pain will be aggravated in the late stage of liver cancer. In addition, the constitution of liver cancer patients is extremely weak, so this is also a symptom before death from liver cancer.

(4) Difficulty breathing: Symptoms before death from liver cancer include difficulty breathing. Severe difficulty breathing can easily cause fear, and fear itself aggravates the difficulty breathing. If not treated in time, it can easily cause shock and death.

For patients with advanced liver cancer, current medical treatments include surgery, chemotherapy, and traditional Chinese medicine. Before treating themselves, patients must actively understand their symptoms so that they can receive symptomatic treatment during the treatment process, ensure their recovery speed, and stay away from liver cancer as soon as possible.
