What's wrong with having hiccups while eating

Hiccups are an experience that many people have had. Hiccups in public places are often embarrassing, but occasional hiccups are not harmful to the body. They may be caused by factors such as bloating. Eating more foods that have a gas-relieving effect can effectively relieve this symptom. Hiccups before meals will make it difficult for patients to eat, and will cause damage to the stomach over time. If you want to relieve this symptom, the most important thing is to first understand the cause of hiccups before meals and then prescribe the right medicine.

Hiccups refer to the upward flow of gas from the stomach, which causes frequent, short, and rapid sounds in the throat. It is a common physiological phenomenon caused by spasm and contraction of the diaphragm. Healthy people may also experience transient hiccups, which are often related to diet, especially eating too fast, overeating, consuming very hot or cold food or drinks, drinking alcohol, etc. Changes in external temperature and excessive smoking can also cause hiccups. Hiccups that occur frequently or last for more than 24 hours are called refractory hiccups, which often occur in certain diseases. Hiccups do make the body uncomfortable, so how can we stop hiccups quickly?

1. Drink water method:

I believe many people know that drinking water can relieve hiccups, but sometimes drinking several glasses of water doesn’t help? Why not try bending over while drinking water: when drinking water, swallow slowly and bend your waist to 90 degrees, repeat about 10 times.

2. Stick out your tongue:

When the hiccups continue, place a piece of clean gauze on your tongue and pinch your tongue with your fingers to stretch it outwards. At this time, you will feel gas rising in your abdomen and the hiccups will naturally disappear.

3. Sneezing method:

When you have hiccups, if you find a way to sneeze, it will stop the hiccups. You can sniff pepper with your nose to make you sneeze.

4. Pinch the middle finger:

Use your left and right fingers to pinch the top of your middle finger hard. After about 1 to 2 minutes, the hiccups will stop.

5. Breath-holding method:

Try to hold your breath as many times as possible, about 15 to 25 seconds at a time, and you will see results after 3 to 5 times.
