The three most common ways of laryngeal cancer spreading and metastasis

As the disease worsens, the symptoms of laryngeal cancer patients will spread and metastasize. Among them, there are three most common ways of laryngeal cancer metastasis. Most patients with advanced laryngeal cancer have these metastases. What are the most common ways of laryngeal cancer metastasis ? The following will tell you about the most common ways of laryngeal cancer metastasis.

Generally, the most common ways of laryngeal cancer spread and metastasize are:

1. Lymphatic metastasis: The metastasis site is often seen in the lymph nodes at the bifurcation of the common carotid artery in the deep upper neck group, and then develops along the internal jugular vein to the upper and lower lymph nodes. Subglottic cancer often metastasizes to the paraglottic lymph node group. This is one of the common ways of laryngeal cancer spread and metastasis.

2. Vascular metastasis: This type of laryngeal cancer can spread and metastasize throughout the body through the blood circulation to the lungs, liver, kidneys, bones, pituitary gland, etc.

3. Direct spread: Advanced laryngeal cancer often spreads by infiltration under the mucosa. Supraglottic cancer located in the epiglottis can invade the pre-epiglottic space, vallecula and tongue root forward. Arypenoid fold cancer spreads outward to the pyriform sinus and the lateral wall of the hypopharynx. Glottic cancer can invade the anterior commissure forward and spread to the contralateral vocal cord; it can also destroy the thyroid cartilage forward, causing the laryngeal body to swell, and infiltrate the soft tissue in the front of the neck. Subglottic cancer spreads downward to the trachea, and can also penetrate the cricothyroid membrane to the anterior cervical muscle layer, develop to both sides, invade the thyroid gland; and affect the anterior wall of the esophagus backward. This is a relatively common way of spreading and metastasis of laryngeal cancer.

The above is an introduction to the most common ways of laryngeal cancer spread and metastasis. I hope it will be helpful to you. If you have any questions about the spread and metastasis of laryngeal cancer, you can consult our online experts, who will answer them in detail.
