Preventive measures for rectal cancer in life

Preventive measures for rectal cancer in life

The reason why the incidence of rectal cancer is getting higher and higher is that many people have irregular diets and untimely treatment. Therefore, it is very important to prevent rectal cancer . Here are some relevant preventive measures for you.

1. Changes in bowel habits. Changes in bowel habits are the earliest and most common symptom of rectal cancer. Due to the stimulation of the cancer, the patient may have an increase in the number of bowel movements for no apparent reason or alternating constipation and diarrhea in a short period of time, with a feeling of incomplete bowel movements. As the disease progresses and the lesion grows, the cancer may block the rectal outlet, causing symptoms such as constipation, thinning or deformed stools, and abdominal distension.

2. Changes in stool characteristics. The stool becomes loose, bloody, and mucus. 80% to 90% of rectal cancers may cause blood in the stool. The blood is bright red or dark red, often mixed with mucus or pus. Sometimes detached tumor tissue can be seen in the stool, but this is often not in the early stage. This is one of the preventive measures for rectal cancer.

3. Seek medical attention early. Once rectal cancer patients find the above symptoms, they should go to the hospital for examination immediately. When seeing a doctor, be careful not to easily believe the doctor's conclusions without examination, such as hemorrhoids or bacillary dysentery. If the doctor does not require an examination, the patient may ask for it himself. Generally speaking, a rectal digital examination can detect more than 75% of rectal cancers, and a simple sigmoidoscopy can detect almost all rectal cancers.

4. Take it seriously. Many patients may be ashamed to be examined or afraid of the pain caused by the examination. After the doctor writes out the examination order, they hold the order and do not do the examination, thus delaying the opportunity for early detection. Such examples are not uncommon in clinical practice.

The above is an introduction to the prevention of rectal cancer. I hope everyone will actively take relevant preventive measures. If you want to know more about rectal cancer, please consult online experts.
