How to reduce fever without medicine

Although fever is very common, it still has a great impact on the health of the body. Many patients with severe high fever may even suffer damage to their brain nerves, seriously affecting the normal functioning of the brain. Generally speaking, if the fever is severe, you need to use antipyretics, but sometimes we can't find antipyretics around us. So, how should you reduce a fever if you have no medicine?

What to do if you have a fever at home and have no medicine

1. Cold wet compress on the head: Soak a soft towel in 20℃ - 30℃ cold water, squeeze it slightly to prevent dripping, fold it and place it on the forehead, change it every 3-5 minutes.

2. Wipe with warm water or take a warm bath: Wipe the child's head, armpits, limbs with a warm, wet towel or take a warm bath, scrub the skin more to promote heat dissipation.

3. Ice compress: You can use a small amount of ice compress appropriately, and apply ice or cold compress to the baby's forehead, both sides of the neck, armpits, groin and other large blood vessels. But be sure to wrap a layer of cloth around the ice bag to prevent local frostbite on the baby's skin, and babies under 6 months old should not be given ice compresses. There is still much controversy about the pros and cons of this approach. It is generally believed that ice compresses do more harm than good, because they may cause the capillaries in the baby's skin to contract, hindering heat dissipation and causing the body temperature to be higher. Especially if accompanied by chills or shivering, ice compresses should not be used.

4. Alcohol bath: This method has been abandoned.

Babies' skin is very thin and alcohol is highly permeable, so it may be absorbed into the blood through the skin. Moreover, alcohol baths can also irritate the skin, causing capillaries to contract, hindering heat dissipation, and causing the body temperature to be higher.

5. Drink plenty of water and don’t take any medicine casually. When the fever is high, breathing speeds up and sweating causes the body to lose a lot of water. Therefore, parents should give their children plenty of water when they have a fever, increase urine volume, and promote the excretion of toxins in the body.

When your baby has a fever, massaging these 3 acupoints can reduce the fever

1. Hegu Point

Hegu point is what we often call the "tiger's mouth". It is located between the first and second metacarpal bones on the dorsum of the hand. Hegu point is a relatively easy to find point. It is the depression corresponding to the bulging muscle when we put the thumb and index finger together. When you have a fever, pressing the Hegu point for about 1 minute can dispel wind and heat and have a fever-reducing effect.

2. Quchi Point

Many people do not know about Quchi acupoint. Quchi acupoint is located near the elbow. Massaging this acupoint can stimulate Yang energy and play a role in clearing away heat, detoxifying and relieving internal fire. People can press the Quchi point for 2-3 minutes when they have a fever. In addition, Chinese medicine also believes that regular massage of the Quchi point can prevent diseases related to the lung meridian.

3. Dazhui Point

The Dazhui point is located on the neck. When you lower your head, you can feel the two vertebrae behind your neck. The Dazhui point is the depression in the middle of the vertebrae. In addition to massaging the Dazhui point to reduce fever, you can also use the scraping technique to scrape out sha, which also has a significant fever-reducing effect.

Massaging the above three acupoints can effectively help your baby reduce fever.
