Is there any good method to diagnose gastric cancer

Gastric cancer is a very common digestive tract malignancy. If you have symptoms of indigestion and black stools, you should get checked out and diagnosed with gastric cancer. Let's ask an expert to tell us in detail about the diagnosis of gastric cancer .

The symptoms of gastric cancer have always been one of the diagnostic bases for gastric cancer:

① No history of stomach problems, but recent symptoms such as upper abdominal distension and pain, fullness after eating, loss of appetite, weight loss or black stools;

② Those with a history of gastric disease have had their symptoms aggravated recently;

③ Family history of gastric cancer;

④ Those with atrophic gastritis with intestinal metaplasia, gastric polyps, gastric ulcer, post-subtotal gastrectomy, atypical hyperplasia of gastric mucosa, etc.

The simplest way to diagnose gastric cancer is to check the stool for occult blood multiple times, but although this method is sensitive, its specificity is poor. Currently, the best method for diagnosing gastric cancer, especially early gastric cancer, is gastroscopy and upper gastrointestinal tract double contrast barium radiography (X-ray barium meal) examination. Under direct gastroscopy, tiny lesions in the gastric mucosa can be found, and biopsies can be performed to help confirm the diagnosis, which can clarify suspicious findings from X-ray examinations. The accuracy of gastroscopy in diagnosing gastric cancer can be close to 90%, and many early gastric cancers can be detected. X-ray barium meal examination for gastric cancer is still one of the important methods. The accuracy of double contrast barium radiography in diagnosing gastric cancer is higher than that of conventional gastric barium meal examination.
