The three most common treatments for cervical cancer

The three most common treatments for cervical cancer

Cervical cancer is a common disease that endangers women's health. It mostly occurs in married women aged 35-55 who have given birth to many children. About 95% of them are squamous cell tumors and 5% are glandular tumors. So what are the treatments for cervical cancer?

1. Radiation therapy

Radiotherapy is the most common treatment for cervical cancer, which can be generally divided into: intracavitary radiotherapy and external radiotherapy. Intracavitary radiotherapy is a method of close-range radiotherapy using a closed radioactive source. It is characterized by a short treatment distance and a large gradient of dose drop around the radioactive source. Therefore, a high dose can be given to the tumor locally and the dose to surrounding tissues can be reduced.

2. Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment

The relationship between cervical cancer treatment and traditional Chinese medicine is very close. For example, in terms of enhancing efficacy and detoxification, the combination of traditional Chinese medicine with surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy can control and prevent the metastasis of cancer to a certain extent. For patients after surgery, the principle of strengthening the body and eliminating evil is often used in clinical practice to treat the disease according to syndrome differentiation.

3. Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is a treatment method for systemic cervical tumors and is suitable for treating advanced cases. In the past, it was believed that chemotherapy was not effective enough for cervical tumors, with a low remission rate and a short remission period. For advanced patients, it can only play a palliative role in alleviating pain and prolonging life. In recent years, with the continuous emergence of new anticancer drugs, the improvement of drug administration routes, and the combined use of multiple drugs, chemotherapy has become an effective adjuvant therapy in the treatment of cervical tumors. It can be used for advanced cases or combined with surgery and radiotherapy, and can also be used to treat recurrent cancer.

These are the three most common treatments for cervical cancer. Each method has its own characteristics, and we should follow the doctor's arrangements during treatment.
