Common symptoms of esophageal tumors

Esophageal tumor is one of the most common malignant tumors in my country, accounting for the second largest cause of death from tumors in various parts of the body, second only to gastric tumors. my country is one of the areas with a high incidence of esophageal tumors in the world. The mortality rate of esophageal tumors is higher in men, with a male-to-female ratio of about 2:1. So what are the symptoms of esophageal tumors? The common symptoms of esophageal tumors are as follows:

(1) Progressive dysphagia: It occurs occasionally when eating hard food, and then becomes more frequent. The patient has to swallow slowly in small sips or with water. In the late stage, he can only eat semi-liquid or liquid food, and in severe cases, he cannot even eat water.

(2) Pain: dull pain or burning pain behind the sternum when swallowing. Severe pain is rare and usually occurs after swallowing. One-fifth of patients have obvious pain behind the sternum at the beginning of the disease.

(3) Vomiting: As the disease progresses, the esophagus will become obstructed to varying degrees, with food retention above it and significant expansion of the esophagus, thus causing vomiting. The vomitus is mainly mucus and foam, which may be mixed with a small amount of food.

(4) Weight loss: Moderate weight loss can cause weight loss, and severe cases may develop cachexia.
