Lumbar vertebral marginal bone hyperplasia

Lumbar vertebral marginal bone hyperplasia

Many elderly people experience bone hyperplasia in their bones. Bone hyperplasia is actually a phenomenon in which bone spurs grow on bones. Therefore, after bone hyperplasia occurs, it will compress other nerves around the bones. While bone hyperplasia can occur in any part of the body where bones are present, the chance of bone hyperplasia occurring around the lumbar vertebrae is the highest. So how should we treat bone hyperplasia that occurs at the edge of the lumbar vertebrae?

1. How is bone hyperplasia at the edge of the lumbar vertebrae formed?

It is best not to do exercises such as sit-ups for people with lumbar degenerative lesions. If conservative treatment is ineffective, surgical treatment is required. Lumbar fusion may be performed.

2. Symptoms of lumbar disc herniation

Lumbar disc herniation is one of the more common diseases. It is mainly caused by different degrees of degenerative changes in the various parts of the lumbar disc (nucleus pulposus, annulus fibrosus and cartilage plate), especially the nucleus pulposus. Under the influence of external factors, the annulus fibrosus of the intervertebral disc ruptures, and the nucleus pulposus tissue protrudes (or falls out) from the ruptured part to the back or inside the spinal canal, causing stimulation or compression of the adjacent spinal nerve roots, resulting in a series of clinical symptoms such as low back pain, numbness and pain in one or both lower limbs. The highest incidence of lumbar disc herniation is at L4-5 and L5-S1, accounting for about 95%.

3. What to do if there is bone hyperplasia on the edge of the lumbar vertebrae

1. Bone hyperplasia is caused by degenerative changes in the human body. It occurs with age and is related to calcium loss. Bone hyperplasia will stimulate inflammation of the surrounding tissues, which is more common in the joints. The hyperplastic bone cannot be eliminated. We can only relieve the symptoms caused by it and slow down its continued occurrence.

2. In normal times, you should pay attention to reducing joint activities. When the knee joint is hyperplastic, you should pay attention to reducing squatting movements. Keep warm and avoid catching cold. You can do hot compresses or electric therapy on the joints at night. When the pain is severe, you can apply Xungoufeng ointment externally. Appropriate calcium supplementation can slow down the occurrence of bone hyperplasia. After bone hyperplasia occurs, conservative treatment is usually performed first. If there is severe limitation of movement, surgical treatment can be performed.
