Can congenital lumbar spondylosis be cured?

Can congenital lumbar spondylosis be cured?

Among many congenital diseases, some can be cured with one operation, but some cannot be cured with one operation and may even require medication for a lifetime. So can congenital lumbar spondylolisthesis be cured? This disease is not common and is a chronic disease that requires long-term medication to slowly treat. Although occult sacral spondylolisthesis can be treated surgically, it requires a certain period of time, and the best time for treatment is between the ages of 17 and 23.

1. How to treat congenital occult sacral spondylosis

This disease is a chronic disease and one must be prepared to take medication for a long time. As long as it is treated early and actively, the effect is good.

Drug treatment: anti-inflammatory analgesics and traditional Chinese medicine.

Blockade treatment: 5-10ml of 1% procaine or 1% lidocaine, reinforced with 25-50mg of solone, to block the painful points. Do not insert the needle too deep to avoid injuring the dura mater and spinal cord.

Acupuncture therapy.

Massage, physical therapy.

Nerve block therapy: epidural block or caudal block can be used. Inject 10ml of 2% lidocaine, supplemented with 50-75mg of solone, 300-700mg of vitamin B1, and 500-1000mg of vitamin B12, once a week.

Surgical treatment can be performed for patients who fail to recover after long-term treatment and suffer severe pain, and those with free spinous processes can undergo surgical resection.

When sacral fissure occurs, you should go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time. Generally speaking, you can apply some plasters. This disease can be said to be 30% treatment and 70% care. You must pay more attention to rest and avoid strenuous activities, especially when the body shows some symptoms. Surgery can be used for treatment if necessary. You should eat more calcium-rich foods.

2. Definition of Lumbar Sacral Occult Fracture

The development of the human spine is an ossification process. From birth to puberty, the spine, including the lumbar and sacral vertebrae, are not fully ossified and are generally completed between the ages of 17 and 23. During this age period, the lumbar and sacral vertebrae are still undergoing ossification and development.

Since there are two ossification centers in the lumbar sacral region, if the ossification is not complete before the human body stops developing, a "crack" will form in the lumbar or sacral vertebrae. This is what we often call "occult spina bifida" in clinical photo reports. The disease that occurs in the lumbar spine is called "lumbar occult fracture".

3. Diagnosis of lumbar sacral occult fracture

Spine X-rays, CT scans, and MRI scans can show spinal canal deformities, spinous process and lamina defects, which are helpful for the diagnosis of the disease. Symptoms of congenital occult spondylolysis

Sacral cleft is a skeletal developmental abnormality or congenital malformation of the lumbar sacral region, caused by incomplete closure of the spinal canal during the embryonic period. During the development of the first and second sacral vertebrae, the initial osteogenesis of the vertebral arches on both sides is incomplete, the vertebral plates are not fused, but there is no spinal cord herniation. This is medically known as occult sacral bifida, also known as occult spina bifida. The developmental abnormality itself does not cause symptoms, but due to its anatomical weaknesses, the unfused area is cartilage tissue, which has poor toughness and is prone to secondary injury or strain, thus causing clinical symptoms.

In the early stage of the disease, symptoms may include stiffness and dull pain in the waist when standing for a long time or being too tired. Later, the pain becomes more obvious and can be triggered by general activities, but it will be alleviated and disappear after resting in bed. There may be obvious tenderness points locally. Massage therapy can relieve symptoms, while medical exercises have preventive and therapeutic effects. Lie prone and massage the waist and buttocks repeatedly for 3-5 minutes using kneading and rolling methods to relax the muscles and promote blood circulation. Then use the thumb tip to push on the painful points and corresponding parts of the deformity repeatedly for 2-3 minutes, starting from shallow to deep.
