What is sinusitis_How is sinusitis caused

Sinusitis is a common rhinitis disease. The causes of this disease are varied. Generally, patients can see the sinuses growing in the nasal cavity when doing anterior rhinoscopy. These sinuses will hinder the patient's breathing. When the sinusitis is serious, the acne will be particularly large and more nasal mucus will be produced. So what is the cause of sinusitis?

What causes sinusitis?

Sinusitis is also known as paranasal sinusitis. The paranasal sinuses are gas-filled cavities in the facial bones, which are filled with mucous membranes. Sinusitis refers to the swelling and inflammation of the mucous membranes in the sinus cavity. There are four sets of sinuses on the face: maxillary, ethmoid, frontal and sphenoid.

The occurrence of sinusitis is mainly caused by two reasons. One is the natural obstruction of the sinuses, such as deviated nasal septum, hypertrophy and gasification of the middle turbinate, nasal polyps, viral infection, allergic rhinitis and anatomical abnormalities of sinusitis itself. Second, the transport capacity of the sinus mucosal mucus blanket is reduced. It is often related to local inflammation, allergic reaction, viral infection, etc.

Long-lasting colds that do not heal are common factors that cause sinusitis in daily life. The edema caused by long-term colds leads to natural blockage of the sinuses. At the same time, allergic reactions reduce the transport capacity of the sinus mucosa blanket, leading to sinusitis. Therefore, avoiding colds or getting timely and effective treatment for colds is one of the important measures to prevent sinusitis.

What should you pay attention to when treating sinusitis

Some patients with sinusitis have received repeated treatments but have not been cured for a long time, and even sinus surgery cannot cure them. The main reason is that they do not truly understand the cause of sinusitis. Nasal sprays, Chinese and Western medicines are often used in treatment, which can temporarily relieve the symptoms of sinusitis, but cannot achieve the goal of fundamental cure.

Currently, functional sinus endoscopic surgery only focuses on opening the natural openings of the sinuses and removing diseased sinus tissues, but also ignores the functional restoration of the sinus and nasal cavity, such as repairing the transport capacity of the sinus mucus blanket. Therefore, the therapeutic effect of some patients after surgery is unsatisfactory.
