What is the inner thigh muscle called

People don't know much about their own body tissues, so even if there are some minor problems with their bodies, they are completely unaware of it, which delays the treatment of their illness. Therefore, you must have an understanding of your own body. Usually people don't know what the muscles on the inside of the thigh are called. In fact, this part is wrapped in many muscles, so it is difficult to distinguish.

Thigh muscles

The hip and thigh bones are wrapped by approximately 27 powerful muscles. These muscles are arranged in different groups, and the fascia wraps around a single muscle like a sleeve, while also wrapping several muscles together.

Hip: gluteus medius, gluteus maximus, tensor fasciae latae, anterior thigh muscles (sartorius, quadriceps femoris-rectus femoris, vastus medialis, vastus lateralis and deep vastus intermedius), medial muscles (adductor longus, gracilis and pectineus) and posterior muscles semimembranosus, semitendinosus and biceps femoris.

Calf muscles

The bones of the calves and feet are wrapped in more than 30 muscles. These muscles are wrapped in layers and shaped into blocks that allow delicate movements from the knee to the toes, providing the power to maintain our balance.

Posterior calf muscles: gastrocnemius and soleus.

Lateral muscles: peroneus longus, peroneus brevis.

Anterior muscles: tibialis anterior, etc.

Foot muscles

There are 20 muscles in the foot, just like the muscles in the hands, mainly arranged on the sole of the foot. These muscles are arranged in layers and groups according to their effect on the toes, and work together to separate, bring together, and bend the toes up or down. The sole of the foot is covered with the plantar aponeurosis, which is connected to the deep fascia of the foot. It protects the deep muscles, provides a place for the muscles to attach, and firmly fixes the skin.

There are 4 deep muscles, the popliteus muscle is on the top and the other 3 are on the bottom.

1. Popliteus muscle: It is located obliquely at the bottom of the popliteal fossa, originates from the lateral part of the lateral condyle of the femur, and ends at the bone surface above the soleus line of the tibia.

Action: Flexes the knee joint and internally rotates the lower leg.

2. Flexor toes longus: Located on the tibial side, it originates from the back of the tibia. Its long tendon passes behind the medial malleolus and deep to the flexor retinaculum to the sole of the foot, then divides into 4 tendons and ends at the base of the distal phalanges of the 2nd to 5th toes.

Function: Flex the ankle joint and the 2nd to 5th toes.

3. Flexor hallucis longus: It originates from the back of the fibula. The long tendon passes behind the medial malleolus and deep into the flexor retinaculum to the sole of the foot, crosses with the flexor hallucis longus tendon, and ends at the base of the distal phalanx of the hallucis.

Function: Flexes the ankle joint and big toe.

4. Tibialis posterior muscle: Located between the flexor digitorum longus and the flexor hallucis longus, it originates from the back of the tibia, fibula and the interosseous membrane of the lower leg. The long tendon passes behind the medial malleolus and deep to the flexor retinaculum to the medial side of the sole, and ends at the tuberosity of the navicular bone and the medial, middle and lateral cuneiform bones.

Action: Flexes the ankle and inverts the foot.
