As we all know, the environment and season can have a great impact on the health of the cervical spine. This is mainly because the hot and humid environment will increase the moisture in the cervical spine and aggravate the condition of the cervical spine. Also, in hot seasons, people are accustomed to going to rooms with air conditioners or electric fans. If the cervical spine is exposed to fans or air conditioners for a long time, it is easy to catch cold and irritate the cervical spine. In fact, many people have potential cervical spondylosis. Long-term direct exposure to air conditioning or fans in the summer can easily induce cervical spondylosis. From the perspective of Western medicine, when sleeping, the body is in a relaxed state and the functions of various systems will decline. If the temperature in an air-conditioned room is too low or a fan is blowing directly on it, it will cause spasms in the neck muscles and edema of the nerves, leading to cervical spondylosis. It is easy to get caught in the wind when using air conditioning, so be careful of cervical spondylosis. From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, the onset of cervical spondylosis is related to external wind, cold and dampness in the neck, meridian blockage, and poor blood circulation, among which wind-cold and rheumatism are the most closely related. Normally, a cold stomach will cause discomfort, and cold joints or being in a humid environment will cause joint pain. The same is true for the neck. When the cervical spine is affected by wind and cold, the muscles will spasm, and the tendons, fascia, and joint capsules will become inflamed and edematous, causing muscle strength imbalance and, in severe cases, small joint disorders. Repeated occurrence of this condition can lead to chronic strain of the neck muscles, thereby accelerating cervical degeneration. Therefore, it is very important to keep the neck warm, especially when resting, as the body's ability to resist wind and cold decreases, making it more likely to induce cervical spondylosis. With the popularization of air conditioning, the number of patients with cervical spondylosis caused and induced by the use of air conditioning is increasing. Clinically, people who work with their heads down for long periods of time, such as accountants, bank clerks, programmers, etc., have more or less a poor foundation for chronic soft tissue injuries in the neck. Moreover, they are in a low-temperature air-conditioned environment for a long time in the summer, which can easily allow cold and dampness to enter the neck, causing neck muscle spasms and changes in the mechanical relationship of the cervical spine, leading to cervical spondylosis. The above groups of people should pay more attention. Here is my previous article about things to pay attention to in summer. I hope it will be helpful to you. You are welcome to leave a message to discuss. 1. Don’t be too cool in summer to prevent and treat air-conditioning disease. 2.
