How to prevent synovitis

How to prevent synovitis

Simply put, synovitis is an inflammation of the synovial membrane in our body when it is stimulated. It is a very common joint disease. After suffering from synovitis, patients will experience symptoms such as joint swelling, pain, joint effusion, and limited movement, which are very harmful. Therefore, we need to know the preventive measures for synovitis and actively prevent this disease. So, how to prevent synovitis? Let’s take a closer look below.

Joint disease

How to prevent synovitis?

(1) Avoid excessive activity and strain of the knee joints. Particularly those who engage in strenuous exercise of the lower limbs (such as dancers, athletes, porters, etc.) should pay attention to the combination of work and rest to prevent tissue damage caused by excessive exertion. Otherwise, bone hyperplasia is likely to occur as age increases.

(2) When a knee fracture occurs, go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment in a timely manner, and try to achieve anatomical reduction of the fracture ends. If the reduction is unsatisfactory, surgical treatment should be taken promptly.

(3) People who are too obese should control their diet appropriately, pay attention to adjusting their diet structure, reduce calorie intake, keep their weight within an appropriate range, and reduce the pressure and wear on their joints.

(4) The elderly can appropriately supplement calcium, vitamin D and other drugs that are closely related to bone metabolism and joints, and engage in moderate physical exercise to slow down the aging and degenerative changes of bone tissue.

Clinical manifestations

The onset can be slow or acute, with symptoms including pain and swelling in the knee joint, increased local temperature and limited joint movement. The severity of symptoms is related to the nature of the disease and the amount of fluid effusion in the joints. When the knee is actively flexed, the pain worsens and there is a feeling of swelling. During the examination, the tenderness point was not fixed and the floating patella test was positive.

Chronic synovitis presents as knee pain and swelling that is more pronounced with increased activity. When examining the knee joint movement, friction can be felt and a thickened bursa can be palpated. Most patients have quadriceps atrophy. Floating patella test was positive.
