Does gout hurt all the time or only when you move?

With the improvement of people's living standards, the incidence of ventilation has been getting higher and higher in recent years, and ventilation has received more and more attention. In fact, ventilation is a relatively common disease in our lives. It will not only affect our physical health, but also affect our normal life. Therefore, we must pay attention to ventilation in our daily life. Early treatment of ventilation can relieve physical discomfort.

The pain of gout is continuous. You will feel pain whether you move or not, especially at night, when it is very painful.

Gout symptoms + medication

Gout is not just about elevated uric acid in the blood. It also includes symptoms such as redness, swelling, heat, and pain in the joints. The joint swelling and pain usually first occur in the big toe of the foot. The pain is like a knife cut. The skin on the joint surface becomes red and hot, and sometimes there is a fever. The patient is restless and cannot sleep well, and his daily life is seriously affected. When the pain becomes unbearable, patients usually go to the hospital for treatment. The doctor will give some anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs, such as colchicine, Celebrex, hormones and other symptomatic treatments, and instruct the patient to take uric acid-lowering drugs regularly after the acute pain is relieved, such as benzbromarone, allopurinol, benesulfonide, etc. Some obedient patients will start regular uric acid-lowering treatment according to the doctor's instructions, and regularly check blood uric acid, liver and kidney function, etc.

However, not all people with elevated blood uric acid levels will experience redness, swelling, heat and pain in the joints and tophi of various sizes. Many patients have elevated blood uric acid levels in multiple examinations, or even higher and higher, but do not experience clinical symptoms such as joint swelling and pain. This is medically known as hyperuricemia. Among 100 patients with hyperuricemia, only about 10 patients develop symptoms of gout. Patients with hyperuricemia often do not have swollen and painful joints, so many people do not take the elevated blood uric acid level seriously, thinking that there is no problem as long as there is no joint pain. They do not go to the hospital for treatment and do not control their diet. Is this good? Will high uric acid really not cause harm to the body? Before answering these questions, we must first understand the metabolic process of uric acid in the body.

How uric acid crystals form

As mentioned earlier, uric acid is a product of purine metabolism in our body. It normally exists mainly in the blood and is a metabolic waste. It is transported to the kidneys through blood vessels and then excreted by the kidneys. The kidneys are like a "filter" with sieve holes in the body, which "screens" the unwanted metabolic waste produced by our body into the renal tubules, and then passes through the renal tubules, ureters and other tubes, and is finally discharged out of the body in the form of urine. However, if the uric acid level in the blood rises and exceeds the range that the kidneys can withstand, the excess uric acid will be deposited in the "filter" of the kidneys, forming uric acid crystals or even uric acid stones, which will clog the "sieve holes" and prevent other metabolites such as water, various ions, creatinine, urea, etc. from being "filtered" out of the body through the kidneys. Over time, these metabolic wastes are deposited in our bodies and become "toxins" that damage our health. Too much water and sodium (the salt we eat every day) can lead to high blood pressure.
