Sequelae of cerebral hemorrhage in the elderly

Sequelae of cerebral hemorrhage in the elderly

Cerebral hemorrhage is also called cerebral hemorrhage. The cause of cerebral hemorrhage is often internal disease. When cerebral hemorrhage occurs, the disease develops very quickly. If not treated in time, it will often threaten the patient's life safety. Especially some elderly people have a higher chance of suffering from cerebral hemorrhage, so they should pay attention to some signs of cerebral hemorrhage in their lives, which will be of great help in the treatment of cerebral hemorrhage.

Sequelae of cerebral hemorrhage in the elderly

1. Mental disorders

Elderly people who suffer from cerebral hemorrhage are prone to mental disorders, especially those who have suffered multiple cerebral hemorrhages or have a large area of cerebral hemorrhage. They may have a negative and pessimistic mentality, often feel depressed, listless, easily agitated, and even have personality changes.

2. Intellectual Disability

Elderly people who suffer cerebral hemorrhage may also suffer from intellectual impairment, such as memory loss, slow reaction, and dementia. Therefore, intellectual disability is also a common sequelae of cerebral hemorrhage. Especially for the elderly who have suffered multiple cerebral hemorrhages, the possibility of intellectual disability is very high.

3. Physical disability

Limb disability is one of the most common sequelae of cerebral hemorrhage. The most common ones are facial paralysis, inability to control the limbs, hemiplegia, and paralysis of the whole body. These limb disabilities all occurred after a cerebral hemorrhage.

4. Language barriers

After a cerebral hemorrhage, the elderly will also be affected in their language ability, thus leading to language disorders. Language disorders can be divided into three categories. The first category is that they can understand what others say, but cannot express themselves in words. The second type is that one cannot understand what others are saying, or even does not know what one is saying, which can be summarized as talking to oneself. The third type is anomia, in which one knows the purpose of an object but cannot name it.

Premonitions of cerebral hemorrhage

1. Severe headache

This type of headache has no obvious cause. Many people start with intermittent headaches, but later they turn into continuous headaches. The duration of symptoms may vary from person to person, depending on the individual's condition.

2. Dizziness and discomfort

Many people will experience varying degrees of dizziness before suffering a cerebral hemorrhage. They may suddenly feel dizzy, unsteady on their feet, have difficulty lifting their feet, or even fall to the ground.

3. Darkness in front of eyes

Sudden, transient blackening of the eyes, or blurred vision in one eye, blurry vision, or even double vision. These may be precursors to cerebral hemorrhage and should not be taken lightly.

4. Numbness on one side

Many people experience numbness in the face, arms, and fingers, especially the ring finger, before a cerebral hemorrhage occurs! If you often feel numbness in the left and right halves of your body, you should consider whether there is a problem with the small blood vessels in your brain. If the numbness is accompanied by weakness in the upper or lower limbs, the situation will be even more critical.

5. Hardness of the tongue root

Suddenly, I feel the root of my tongue become stiff, my tongue becomes swollen, I can’t speak clearly, and I even have tongue pain and difficulty swallowing.

6. Yawning

Some patients also said that they yawned involuntarily regardless of time and place. In fact, this is a sign of brain hypoxia.
