What to do if chili oil gets into your eyes

Due to geographical and climatic factors, people in Sichuan, Hunan and other regions have developed the habit of not liking food that is not spicy, and their dishes are also famous for their spicy taste. Hotpot, in particular, is not only loved by local people, but has even spread beyond the country. Many foreign people also love to eat Chinese hotpot. However, when eating hot pot, you should also be careful to keep a safe distance from the bottom of the pot to avoid the chili oil getting into your eyes. So what should you do if chili oil accidentally gets into your eyes?

What to do if chili oil splashes into your eyes

1. When chili oil splashes into your eyes, don’t be too nervous. This is just an irritation to the eye mucosa. The first thing you should do is rinse your eyes with clean water to relieve the discomfort.

2. If you still feel slight discomfort in your eyes after cleaning, apply an ice pad or a frozen towel to your eyes to shrink the blood vessels around the eyes and help reduce swelling of the skin around the eyes.

3. You can also use levofloxacin eye drops, which can repair the cornea and will make your eyes more comfortable.

4. If the above methods are ineffective and you still feel burning pain in your eyes and your vision is blurry, you must go to the hospital in time, otherwise it will cause eyelid inflammation, keratitis, or even blindness.

How to wash chili oil from clothes

1. The first step is to clean it in time, the sooner the better, because the chili oil will spread to a larger volume and the longer the time, the more difficult it will be to handle.

2. Soak the clothes in hot water, and then use a strong detergent to scrub the clothes, because detergent is effective in removing grease stains, but note that the soaking time is generally 2 hours, and they can usually be rinsed clean. But if the chili oil stains are too stubborn and cannot be completely removed after 2 hours, you can soak them overnight. This will have no effect on the clothes, so you can rest assured.

3. When clothes are stained with oil, try to take them off before the oil stain dries. Apply a little toothpaste on the oil stain and rub it gently a few times. If handled in time, the oil stain will be removed.

4. You can directly choose professional cleaning products for removing chili oil. Take your clothes to the dry cleaner. The laundry has special detergents that can remove chili oil from clothes more specifically and effectively.
