Articular cartilage plays a very important role in the movement of joints, not only to maintain local precision, but also to maintain the health of biological tissues. When the knee cartilage tissue is damaged, everyone’s first reaction is whether it can regenerate. Because regeneration does not require other treatments, just wait patiently for local recovery. Articular cartilage plays an important role in joint movement, and its structure is delicate and scientific. Depending on the fiber components contained in the cartilage tissue, cartilage can be divided into three types: hyaline cartilage, elastic cartilage and fibrous cartilage (mainly distributed between the lumbar vertebrae). The surface of articular cartilage is smooth, light blue and shiny. Cartilage tissue is composed of chondrocytes, matrix and fibers. The shape of chondrocytes gradually changes from flat to oval or round from the shallow layer to the deep layer. These chondrocytes maintain the normal metabolism of articular cartilage. Articular cartilage has no nerve supply and no blood vessels. Its nutrients must be obtained from the synovial fluid, and its metabolic waste must also be discharged into the synovial fluid. Therefore, it can be said that the nutrients provided by the synovial fluid determine the normal functioning of the articular cartilage and the normal use of the human joints. The main function of articular cartilage The main function of articular cartilage is to relieve pressure. Under pressure, the cartilage is compressed, relieves the pressure, and can stretch again, similar to the effect of an elastic cushion, which can protect the bones under the cartilage from damage. In addition, articular cartilage has a lubricating function, allowing the bone ends to slide smoothly. How cartilage wears away Young people have stronger elasticity and better buffering effect. However, after the age of 30, a person's joint fibers degenerate, their elasticity decreases, the extension ability of the articular cartilage gradually weakens, and its ability to return to its original state weakens. In addition, the reduction in synovial fluid causes the articular cartilage to become dry. Therefore, when people reach a certain age, the articular cartilage is prone to damage and wear, causing diseases such as degenerative arthritis. The meniscus, which is also a type of cartilage, is also easily damaged by severe impacts, falls, etc., causing breakage and tearing, affecting the patient's motor function. The fibrous cartilage between the lumbar vertebrae is prone to loosening and displacement, causing the nucleus pulposus to protrude and form lumbar disc herniation. How to achieve cartilage regeneration For various joint diseases caused by cartilage wear, damage, and deformation, traditional medicine usually uses pain-relieving drugs (such as glucosamine, hyaluronic acid, pain-relieving patches, etc.), in addition to hot compresses, massage, electrotherapy and other therapies. The problem is, these treatments cannot regenerate cartilage in the body. For patients in the later stages, joint surgery can also be used medically. However, in addition to being expensive, joint surgery cannot completely eliminate pain. Moreover, artificial joints are ultimately "external objects" with limited movement. They are prone to dislocation, accidental injuries and other accidents after impact, and another surgery will be required several years later. |
