How to treat candidal paronychia

How to treat candidal paronychia

Candidal paronychia is a relatively common disease. When this disease occurs, it usually causes pain, and most of the time it occurs on the nails. Although candidal paronychia is common, most people do not know how this disease is caused. If you want to treat this disease, you need to know the cause so that you can treat it symptomatically. So how to treat candidal paronychia?

Generally speaking, paronychia is a purulent inflammation of the tissues surrounding the nails, often caused by accidentally being stabbed by foreign objects during work or labor, or by tearing off the barbs next to the nails. At the onset of the disease, redness, swelling and pain appear on one side of the affected finger, followed by local swelling and increased tension, pale skin and throbbing pain. The pain worsens when the hand is hanging. The patient often cannot fall asleep at night due to pain, and has systemic symptoms such as fever.

For patients, in the early stages of the disease, you can soak the affected limb in hot water 2 to 3 times a day for 20 minutes each time, and apply ichthyol ointment or Ruyi Jinhuang Powder externally at the same time, or iodine can also be used externally. Elevate the affected limb with a triangle to relieve pain. It should be noted that when pus appears under the nail groove, you must not treat it yourself. Instead, you should go to the hospital for incision to facilitate drainage. If a subungual abscess occurs, the affected nail should be removed.

In addition, when treating this disease, you should develop good hygiene habits and do not remove hangnails at will. Once hangnails appear, they should be cut with scissors and should not be removed forcefully. When trimming nails, do not cut them too short to avoid exposing the nail bed, which can be easily damaged and cause infection. When soaking in hot water, the water temperature should be 60℃ to avoid scalding.

Only when you take good care of your nails and toenails, if you don’t know the specific treatment methods when paronychia occurs, then do not deal with it blindly to avoid causing the disease to worsen.

Candidal paronychia is a very common type of paronychia. It often occurs on the nails, but many people do not know what causes it. In daily life, what is Candida paronychia?

In life. Paronychia is a purulent infection of the soft tissue around the nails and toenails, which is caused by bacteria invading the subcutaneous tissue through micro-injuries in the skin around the nail and growing and multiplying. In the fingers, it is usually caused by injuries such as puncture wounds, tearing of flesh thorns or trimming the nails too deeply. In the toes, it is usually caused by ingrown toenails or tight shoes, and most often occurs in the big toe.

Typically, candidal paronychia often begins from the proximal fold of the nail groove, manifested by swelling, erythema and pain of the nail fold. This is a typical manifestation of candidal paronychia. The occurrence of swelling often causes the nail cuticle to separate from the nail plate. As the disease progresses, the fungus will gradually invade the nail plate from the proximal end, and the patient may find white, green or black spots on the proximal end and sides of the nail plate, which are typical signs of fungal invasion.

Subsequently, the fungus invades the distal end of the nail plate. At this time, the nail plate will gradually become turbid, and transverse grooves, longitudinal ridges or dot-like depressions will appear. Do not underestimate this symptom of Candidal paronychia. When this symptom appears, it will often cause the nail plate to become brittle and separate from the nail bed. If a patient has candidal paronychia, pressure on or movement of the nail plate may cause pain, and sometimes bacterial dual infection can be seen, but it is generally difficult to identify which bacteria cause the nail damage.

Therefore, special attention should be paid to Candidal paronychia. The same applies to treatment. Do not blindly carry out treatments, as this will only make the condition more serious. Take more care and do not let the wound be damaged again. In fact, long-term care can also alleviate the condition.
