Common bile duct stone surgical drainage tube

Common bile duct stone surgical drainage tube

The gallbladder is also an important digestive organ in the human body. The main function of the gallbladder is to secrete bile to promote the digestion of excess waste in the human body. However, the gallbladder is also prone to the growth of gallstones, and many gallstone patients are tortured by gallstones and suffer from it. The most thorough treatment for this type of common bile duct stones is surgery, after which a drainage tube needs to be inserted for drainage. But what are the precautions for drainage tube after common bile duct stone surgery?

1. Gallstones, should I open the doctor or not?

Young patients with small stones and no symptoms may not need surgery for the time being, but should pay attention to their diet and have regular follow-up examinations. For patients with symptoms of right upper abdominal pain and discomfort, especially those with recurrent attacks, surgery is recommended in principle. Elderly patients with multiple underlying diseases, even if asymptomatic, are recommended to undergo surgery as soon as possible if conditions permit, because the risk is very high once an acute attack occurs. If a physical examination reveals gallbladder atrophy and other suspected risks of malignancy, surgery should be performed as soon as possible.

2. When is the best time to have surgery?

It is generally recommended to open the operation when there is no pain. For acute attacks, it is more appropriate to open the operation 1-2 months after the inflammation is controlled, because there is no inflammation or edema in the gallbladder at this time, the operation is simple, the recovery is fast, and there are few complications. If conservative treatment fails, emergency surgery is required, but the risks are much greater.

3. Minimally invasive or open?

I just want to say that one is a delicate operation under a high-definition magnified field of view, and the other is to dig out through a deep small incision with hands. There is no doubt that laparoscopic cholecystectomy has been the international gold standard for decades. Of course, if laparoscopic surgery is difficult, open surgery will be needed as a supplement, and the incision will definitely not be very small. Trust the doctor, not the auntie from the next village.

4. How to perform cholecystectomy? Can minimally invasive surgery be performed to remove the cholecystectomy completely?

Let’s look at the pictures together. Just to point out one thing, the process of cholecystectomy is exactly the same for minimally invasive surgery and open surgery. The difference is that the minimally invasive abdominal wall puncture is small, and we will put the gallbladder in a retrieval bag to take it out. Sometimes because of too many or too large stones, or gallbladder edema, we will cut the specimen into pieces for easy removal, but when the gallbladder is removed, it is made sure to be complete, not removed piece by piece, and there will be no residue.

5. Can I preserve my gallbladder? How to perform gallbladder preservation and stone removal?

Imaging examinations such as B-ultrasound or MRI can confirm single or few stones. During the operation, choledochoscopy or cholecystoscopy must be performed to confirm that there are no residual stones or mud. Otherwise, stone recurrence is the greatest pain after gallbladder-preserving surgery.
