Pituitary tumor recurrence rate

Pituitary tumor recurrence rate

Tumors are a common symptom in the body structure of people under the age of ten. They have a great impact on people's physical health and sometimes even pose a great threat to people's life safety. Pituitary tumor is a common tumor condition that occurs in people's heads, also known as pituitary tumor. When this happens, many people resort to surgery to treat it. After successful treatment, we have to consider the recurrence rate. So for this type of tumor, how high is the recurrence rate?

1. Is there a high chance of recurrence of pituitary tumors?

For general pituitary tumors, they only need to be removed cleanly through surgery and the recurrence rate is very low. In other words, as long as the treatment is timely and the post-operative care is good, pituitary tumors will not usually recur. A small number of patients will have a recurrence due to their own lack of attention to care, and the recurrence rate is about 5% to 6%. That is to say, the chance of pituitary tumor recurrence is small, but if the patient cannot take good care of himself after treatment, pituitary tumor will recur.

2. Harm of pituitary tumors

Pituitary tumors are benign tumors. Patients can survive without treatment, but in the later stages, life is worse than death. They will gradually develop blindness, headaches, loss of sexual function, etc. If the tumor is not resolved and is under constant pressure, they will also cause delirium, loss of consciousness, and eventually death from multiple organ failure.

3. Prevention of Pituitary Tumor Recurrence

1. Eat more foods containing vitamins A, C, and E, eat more green vegetables and fruits, adhere to a low-fat diet, and often eat lean meat, eggs, yogurt and other foods to effectively prevent the recurrence of pituitary tumors.

2. Eat less spicy and greasy food, and avoid eating catfish. Eat at regular times, in fixed amounts, and eat small meals frequently. In order to avoid increased intracranial pressure caused by constipation, pay attention to giving enough water during nursing to prevent constipation, which can also help prevent recurrence.

3. To prevent the recurrence of pituitary tumors, you should often eat foods that can inhibit carcinogenicity, such as kohlrabi, cabbage, carrots, rapeseed, garlic, vegetable oil, fish, etc. Do not eat salted, smoked, grilled and fried foods, especially burnt and charred foods.
