Can I drink vinegar if I have chronic gastritis?

Vinegar is a common condiment in our lives. It is usually divided into white vinegar and black vinegar. In China, vinegar is also divided into different types according to different regions, each with its own unique taste. Vinegar not only has edible value, but also has certain medicinal value in the medical field. It can help digest food, eliminate accumulation, detoxify and stimulate the appetite. So for patients with chronic gastritis, can they drink vinegar?

When drinking a lot of vinegar, a large amount of vinegar enters the human body, which will change the pH value of gastric juice and cause damage to the gastric mucosa. For healthy people, consuming large amounts of vinegar can cause stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and even acute gastritis; for gastritis patients, consuming large amounts of vinegar can aggravate stomach symptoms, and for people with ulcers, it can induce ulcer attacks. At the same time, the large amount of acetic acid absorbed will also affect the acid-base balance of the whole human body. Under normal circumstances, the pH value of human blood and body fluids should be maintained between PH7.35-7.45, which is weakly alkaline. The intake of acidic and alkaline foods will affect the acidity and alkalinity of blood and body fluids. From a physiological point of view, excessive intake of acidic foods will cause the acidity of blood and body fluids to increase, resulting in acidosis. The human body is acidic, and within a short period of time, you will feel uncomfortable, tired, and mentally depressed. If you are in an acidic state for a long time, it will cause electrolyte disorders in the body, and easily induce neurasthenia, arteriosclerosis, hypertension, and coronary heart disease.

Drinking excessive amounts for a long time may irritate the esophagus. Vinegar can be roughly divided into three types, namely brewed vinegar, synthetic vinegar, and white vinegar. The most common product in our country is brewing vinegar. Scientific analysis shows that in addition to 5%-20% acetic acid, brewed vinegar also contains amino acids and various organic acids such as lactic acid, succinic acid, oxalic acid, niacin, protein, fat, calcium, phosphorus, iron and other minerals, vitamin B1 and B2, sugar and the aromatic substance ethyl acetate. Rice vinegar made from rice has the highest content of organic acids and amino acids.

Under what circumstances should you not be jealous?

Fasting: No matter how strong your stomach is, it is not suitable to drink vinegar on an empty stomach. Eating vinegar on an empty stomach can cause excessive stomach acid. It is recommended to drink vinegar between meals or one hour after a meal. It will not irritate the gastrointestinal tract and will help digestion.

Patients with stomach problems: Patients with stomach ulcers and those with excessive stomach acid should eat less, because vinegar itself is rich in organic acids, which can prompt the digestive organs to secrete a large amount of digestive fluid, thereby increasing the digestive effect of stomach acid and worsening stomach problems.

People with gastrointestinal dysfunction and other diseases: Patients with thin stomach walls, excessive gastric acid secretion, gastric ulcers, and duodenal ulcers should limit the amount of vinegar they eat, and do not try to drink vinegar.

In addition, people with cholecystitis, nephritis, hypotension, cholelithiasis, bone injuries and other diseases should avoid eating vinegar.

There is nothing wrong with eating a small amount of vinegar, but if anyone drinks a large amount of vinegar like a bottle of vinegar has been overturned, it will cause great irritation to the gastrointestinal tract.

Furthermore, commercially available fruit vinegar or other vinegar drinks often contain a lot of sugar. If you replace boiled water, tea and other beverages with vinegar, you will add a lot of extra calories. If you drink it for a long time, the chance of obesity will increase greatly, which is more detrimental to weight control.
