peel

Grape peels are rich in a polyhydroxyphenol compound, resveratrol, which has the effects of lowering blood lipids, resisting thrombosis, preventing arteriosclerosis, and enhancing immunity. [1]

Tannin, another important substance in grape peel, has the effects of anti-allergy, anti-aging, enhancing immunity and preventing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

The anthocyanins contained in grape peels have strong antioxidant and anti-mutagenic effects, can alleviate liver dysfunction, and protect cardiovascular functions.

Grape peels also have anti-cancer effects. Researchers at the Illinois University of Pharmacy and Science in the United States found that this substance exists in varying degrees in more than 70 kinds of plants, including peanuts and grapes, and is most abundant in grape peels and red wine.

Since most of the grapes on the market currently have pesticide residue problems, you must wash them thoroughly before eating them with the skin. It is best to rinse with water first, using a detergent that can effectively remove pesticide components, and wash for more than two minutes. However, it is not advisable to soak them in clean water or salt water, because soaking in water can easily promote the penetration of residual pesticides on the surface of the grapes into the flesh.
