Why do toenails turn black?

1. Onychomycosis: Don’t think that all onychomycosis are gray. In fact, some are also black. It manifests as thickening of the nails, or hollowing out of the nail with white powdery substances. 2. Subungual bruises: Subungual bruises are relatively common, mostly caused by squeezing and collision. If it is gray-black, check the gap between the toenail and the skin to see if the blackening is caused by a fungal infection. Fungi are generally infected from wounds caused by careless cutting of toenails, and grow inside along the gaps in the toenails. Over time, the toenails lose their original transparency and flexibility and become opaque gray-black. Fungal toenail lesions are contagious and must be treated promptly.

3. Nail matrix nevus: This type is also not uncommon; it often appears as a bundle of lines from the nail root to the nail tip; it is generally harmless to the human body; sometimes it develops into nail pigmentoma; the nail matrix nevus should be closely observed. If it is found to be getting bigger or bleeding, it is considered to be nail pigmentoma, and you should go to the hospital in time to remove the nail, surgically remove the subungual tumor and perform a pathological examination.

4. It indicates problems with the respiratory system. In fact, it is bluish (looks black), and this type of person is prone to cardiovascular disease. It should be noted that there are no nerves or blood vessels in the nail plate, so it will not bleed. The so-called subungual bleeding is actually subungual bleeding.
