In many cases, we may develop fibroids due to various factors. Experts also tell us that fibroids are a benign tumor. After people discover the symptoms of fibroids, they must take timely measures to treat them and prevent them from worsening. Let’s take a look at how patients with fibroids should take care of themselves. The most troublesome problem with fibroids is that they are very likely to recur after surgery. It is generally believed that if there is no recurrence of fibroids 5 years after surgery, it means that the patient has basically recovered. However, according to literature reports, the recurrence rate of fibroids within 5 years is as high as about 50%, and recurrence is most likely to occur within 2 years after surgery. The only effective way to prevent the recurrence of fibroids is postoperative radiotherapy. However, this method can only slow down the "pace" of tumor recurrence, but cannot reduce the recurrence rate of tumors. That is, 50 out of 100 people may relapse after surgery, and 50 people will relapse after radiotherapy, but their recurrence time is delayed. There is currently no data to confirm whether drugs can prevent the recurrence of desmoid tumors. As for the view that pregnancy can induce the recurrence of fibroids, there is still controversy. Therefore, for unmarried women, if they want to have children after marriage, it is generally possible; but for second children, it is recommended not to have them as much as possible, after all, there is a risk of recurrence of hard fibroids caused by pregnancy. It is worth noting that if the tumor recurs after the first surgery, the second surgery is less likely to completely remove it. This is because the second surgery requires a larger area of resection, and this further expansion of the resection may lead to various complications. In addition, the recurrence rate of fibroids after the second surgery is much higher than the recurrence rate of the first surgery, and the recurrence time will become shorter and shorter. Some patients even have repeated recurrences and resections for more than a dozen times. So, in order to avoid repeated surgeries, are other treatments such as HIFU and argon-helium knife available? Because there is no experimental data to support, the effectiveness of these methods in treating fibroids is uncertain. Therefore, it is not recommended for patients to try them easily. After the fibroma relapses, the tumor originally on the hip grows to the thigh. At this time, many people think that this is a recurrence and metastasis of the tumor. In fact, fibroma is a benign tumor and will not metastasize. If the fibroma originally grew on the hip, it will appear on the thigh after surgical removal, and then grow to the N fossa and finally to the calf. This phenomenon is the spread of the tumor along the blood vessels and nerve bundles, which is not the same as metastasis. |
